Smith Mountain

I didn't even step foot on the freshly painted patio today. Although I tried to talk the kids into swimming so that I would be forced to sit and watch them, they were all busy doing other things.  Instead I got the blocks for Smith Mountain put together.  I'm working on the pieced border now, so it should be ready to go on.  The pieced border for Orca Bay is still in waiting, I guess that will be next on the list.  Red Tag fabrics were on clearance last week and I found two nice big pieces to use for backing fabric.  My stash is getting very low, especially when it comes to large amounts of one fabric.  There are three quilts hanging over the quilt frame as I type, so I'd better start getting creative on finding backing possibilities.

Looks stunning Angela. I also get hung up with backings, so keep us posted on what you're doing :)

Loving your Smith Mountain. I know what you mean about the stash getting low. Mine is mostly fat quarters now. But that is ok, because that is what I set out to do almost 2 years ago, was to use up my stash so I could buy more up to date stuff. :D

This is just gorgeous! I have found tons of red tag sales and bought some backing fabrics, too. I have very little stash anymore myself. I don't really like to quilt pieced backs they are kinda bumpy and stretchy.

This quilt is looking just gorgeous. My stash has been dwindling as well. I don't have the spare money I used to have for fabric and I've been selling a lot of things without buying more fabric. I just don't have the giant fabric stash some of these ladies do! :)

Love your color combo in this one, and you did so well with your contrasts and shades of color and scraps. Large pieces of fabric disappear quickly into backings!
