New Class Pet

We are getting a new class pet. There is a special surprise for the first person who guesses what it is.  Nobody has it yet, but a couple got VERY close.  In fact, if I weren't a biology teacher I would probably call it good enough.  It is not the same though.  Any new guesses?

Mouse. It's gotta be a mouse. EVERY great science lab has a mouse!

A Rat. We did two white rats as a science experiment in grade school - fed healthy food to one and junk food to the other. It was a fun couple of months!

A lot of people seem to like those spikey little creatures...hedgehogs I think they're called?

a snake? How about a hissing cockroach-my daughter loved that in her science class a few years back.

I was going to say hedgehog but I see that is already suggested. My granddaughter wants one of those so desperately! What about a bird?

How about an iguana?

Okay - just one more try - these 'tries' are like potato chips - you just can't have one!

How about a gecko!

A bird of some kind - we call them budgies (short for budgerigar) but I think you might call them parakeets.
