Baby Nines Decisions

As the Baby Nine Patches start to come together, I wanted to think about what I should to put together as the alternate block.  I was originally thinking about making an Omigosh Quilt.  It's been done though, and so I've started to think about variations on a theme.  So A is a Churn Dash block, B is a Shoofly block and C is a Churn Dash Variation with a nine patch in the middle
Here they are in real life.  What do you think?  Shoofly, Churn Dash or variation?  All votes much appreciated.
Oh, also, the fridge is clean and shiny now.  So much better!  Now can anyone tell me why I have five mustards and three orange juices?  Life if full of mysteries.

I had never seen the Omigosh quilt so I still haven't recovered. That may be making me sway toward the Shoofly. But really, shouldn't the alternate blocks be a sampler?

It depends. All choices are good. Do you have enough of the nine patches left to do B or C? I personally like C....

I like C, the Churn Dash with nine-patch center.

I like the sampler approach - but if you want only one, then (c) the churn dash with 9-patch center.

Wow - so many great options. From the small sample you have shown, I think if you want the alternate block to be the 'star', I would choose block C. It looks 'chunkier'. I think that block A (yellow) looks to be the same scale as the baby nine patches and feels more harmonious to me. I think that block B would be my last choice.

I am wondering what it would like if you scattered some of each throughout...

I think I vote for C.

I vote for Shoofly--I like that it is balanced with the other blocks. The colors are great.

I really like C - the churn dahs with the 9 patch in it. So cute.. All of them will be great though ;-)

I like the churn dash. The others, at least to me, feel a little heavy next to the nine patches.

I vote for the churn dash block with the 9 patch center.

And I had to return to say... Thanks for the idea of a different alternate block. I have been dreading the triangles around the four patches. Maybe I just need to do something different!

I like the second one, the Churn Dash best : )
Frig look great.

I like the variation, especially in the rainbow pattern. It reminds me of the birthday quilt which would take me two or three lifetimes, but which I love so much...

I think I like the variation best. It seems to frame the nine patch so it stands out better. Good luck with your decision

If you're going with only one alternate block my vote is with c, churn dash with the nine patch in the middle.

Want to come work on my fridge? Hopefully all the mustards were different varieties =). I think I'll work on my fridge today....

I'd use some of each!

I vote yes! It looks great, and it will no matter which way you go. I'd go for variety.

C gets my vote! I've also been thinking about doing something similar with my crumbs. I haven't touched them yet this year and my jars are overflowing!!! Might sew along with you on this one :)

I would say A or C, but you really have to go with what YOU really like!

I like c best, then b! Yay for a clean fridge!

I like the Shoo Fly option.

I managed to get the freezer cleaned out, but haven't gotten to the refrigerator side yet. Yours looks great.
