Binding Time

There were three quilts hanging over the frame yesterday waiting for a turn at quilting.  This one was the smallest, so it got to go first. It started as a drawer of extra string and crumb blocks from my men's shirts phase.  The homespuns for the borders were really stretchy to work with.  I am thinking about blue for the binding.  As soon as I get it sewn on I will be able to settle in for some calm hand sewing time.  When I wasn't quilting this yesterday I got lots of laundry done, took Ryan to play practice and puttered around in the sewing room.  So nice to have a calm and peaceful weekend.  The men folk are off to Dungeons and Dragons this afternoon and Anna has a date.  That will just leave Sydney and I at home.

It may be from leftovers but it's still a really nice quilt. Your layout made leftovers special!

What a great use of those extra strings and crumbs. It looks rather vintage.

What a great quilt. I like the mix of strings and wonky blocks, and really love the little tan/brown accents.

Your "left overs" string quilt is wonderful. A friend gave me a dozen of her husbands shirts to make a remembrance quilt. Lots of plaid shirts, perhaps I'll make a string quilt like yours.

Quilts from leftovers are so much fun! I made 7 shirt quilts from my FIL's shirts for family memebers after he died. They are full of memories.
