Anna had just gotten back from babysitting and was up in her room doing some homework when she saw flames from her bedroom window. She woke everyone in our house up and the kids all went around warning neighbors. It got closest to her friend Allie's house, three doors down from us. Allie was just getting home from prom while her dad was in the backyard spraying everything down with a garden hose. Kurt loaded all the photo albums and computers up into the car and sent the kids off to WaWa to get slushies while firefighters battled the blaze. It was a long night to say the least. So glad it wasn't worse!
Close call! Few disasters do as much damage as fire. So glad you and your family are safe.

ReplyDeleteFire is a scary thing that I had to get used to when I moved to Fl a couple years ago--as so many things can start one--and we went through a really long dry period over here--but am happy to say--we got some nice rain today--and you should hear the birds out there??? I often smell smoke here in the 3rd floor apt that they don't smell down on the ground level--in fact talking about smelling smoke----need to go turn off ac--it is bringing some in again tonight!!

ReplyDeleteBless his heart for thinking of the photo albums. I'm (very slowly) scanning pictures from our old albums. My progress is like 8 photos a night. But I figure, if something terrible happens, I'll be thankful to have those 8 photos, which are 8 more than yesterday.

ReplyDeleteGosh, how scary, Angela. So glad that everyone is safe and that nothing terrible happened to your home. I would grab the photo albums first, too. We have a few really irreplaceable things (like my husband's parents' original marriage certificate) in safe deposit box, just in case. Glad nothing was lost!
