I am trying to puzzle the log cabin blocks together. The diamond subunit is pretty big and so I can't just repeat 4 times without making an absolutely huge quilt. I will need to make some half units I think or work out some sort of clever border design. I don't have a ton of open space though. I might piece this center together and move the whole thing to a bed.
It is a three day weekend for those in the US. It is awkward to have a three day weekend with only 2 days of school left, but I will still enjoy every minute. I am trying hard to take a summer break this year. I seem to keep getting called in to school for various things. So I have things the first two weeks after the end of school this year and then the firs week before we head back. I am firmly turning down anything that falls in the middle of that. By my math that should leave 7 weeks in the middle of full vacation mode. I can't wait! We have a trip to Alaska planned and Kurt has been saving me lots of projects at the cabin. There is a garden planted and a tree that fell down and a big rainstorm that tried to wash away the driveway. I will have so much fun!
Enjoy the much needed vacation! We have 3 days of school left but graduation is this morning, so Emily is there in the band. The log cabins are looking great.
ReplyDeleteThe log cabin quilt is amazing! I'm sure you'll think of a clever way to finish the design. Great job protecting your summer time off. It always goes by so fast. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteYou're almost there! Hope there's time for a little bit of everything both this weekend and this summer. The log cabin project looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteThe log cabin is amazing! When you mentioned laying blocks on the bed it reminded me of my Aunt, that's how she measured her quilts, when the bed was covered with enough blocks across, down & on the sides she knew it was big enough 🤣
ReplyDeleteAny moving forward motion is progress. Love the log cabin quilt. Maybe piano keys for the border? Just saying. Sounds like a lot of hard work is waiting for you at the cabin. Enjoy the long weekend. ;^)
ReplyDeleteThe log cabin quilt will be lovely no matter how you arrange it. I hope you get to enjoy ALL of that 7 weeks! A trip to Alaska sounds great.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your vacation. We have a trip to Alaska planned too! Leaving Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that you've lost 3 weeks of summer vacation, but glad to hear that you are declining all other appointments, Angela. Your quilt projects are looking SEW good up on the design wall! I was sad to see that there was no post title. That means I'm not able to provide my readers a direct link. I hope you are enjoying your holiday weekend and best of luck with the final 2 days of the school year!

ReplyDeleteHopefully you can fend off any other incursions to your summer vacation. Sounds like you'll have lots to keep you busy!
