It is a good thing that I chose a small color for May! I did it quite deliberately, knowing that both a wedding and graduation would take up a bit of time. If only there were a few inches of empty space in my sewing room I would be wildly creating fabric beauty.
Yesterday was the last day of school! So now there is time. But Sydney has invaded my sewing room, the guest room. Finding a clutter free area of the house has become tricky. We celebrated her birthday on Tuesday. It was Monday, but we never saw her on that day. It is a bit chaotic when the recent college graduate is home for a gap month before starting a new job apparently. All the love in the world! We are happy to see her from time to time while we host her makeup and clothes. She has been catching up with the boyfriend from Iowa who goes to college here at FIT. She is doing a girls weekend with high school friends who are now done with college and back for the summer. She is loving every minute of it and we are so happy to have her her (along with her wardrobe of course).
Mr. Linky was being difficult. I think it is working now. This might be my motivation to move to InLinkz which is prettier anyway.

Works! Sounds like a fun month with Sydney.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice that Sydney has a month's vacation between graduation and starting the new job! All of that changes when you become a working person. Your t-shirt quilt is cute! I do hope you get a little bit of end-of-the-school-year oranfe sewing therapy!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're able to enjoy the moments with Sydney. There'll be time enough to sew.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time together! And congratulations on wrapping up another year of school. 😊
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the month with Sydney! It's sure different when an adult child comes home to live temporarily. LOL Hope you are making some time for yourself to just relax after a busy school year, prepping for big events, and being a grad student yourself.
ReplyDeleteHooray for school being done this year. Yes, May is definitely a busy month. Congrats on all the big family events.
ReplyDeleteI have 3 orange blocks in the quilt I share and the border will have more in it, the quilt was started 2 years ago with the RSC and I took 2 years to get this far - the border will be some of all the colors for the year.
ReplyDeleteEven though it is a gap month, enjoy the time you will have together. I did chuckle over the clothes and makeup. . .we had 25 months of our oldest living with us. She had a job and a date to marry. She wanted to save money to purchase a house so she lived rent free with us. We even threw in groceries and utilities so she saved the majority of her paycheck! I love what you and other teachers are doing in your makerspace at school!
ReplyDeleteCute T shirt quilt! I'm amazed you still have your old T shirts!
ReplyDeleteSounds very busy at your house this month! Happy birthday to your daughter. Thanks for hosting each week.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on getting your T-Quilt top together, Angela! I saved shirts, but haven't managed to assemble them. Maybe one day...
ReplyDeleteI love these T-shirt quilts—or really any quilts made from your own old things...
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Sydney on her college graduation!
Warm regards, Viola
It does change the dynamic having one home from college. Ours was home for about 6 weeks while she job hunted. She spent what time she could with high school and college friends since she wasn't sure where she would end up and when she'd get to come home. It hurt my heart a abit because I realized this is probably the last time I'm going to get her home for more than a week since she'll be a working girl.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the t-shirt quilt. Oh to be young and carefree! Congratulations on the graduate and on being out of school for the time being.
