Design Wall Monday August 1, 2011

I spent most of yesterday working steadily on RRCB.  I'm going with a slightly different color placement in the main block, I think it ties in nicely with the strings.  All the strings are done, and all the center sections on the other block.  All that remains are LOTS and LOTS of HST units and cornerstones.  They are all in progress somewhere along the way.  Instead of chain piecing all of one subunit through, I tend to work in batches.  So one batch is partially assembled into rows, one batch is ironed, one is sewn and dog eared while just a few subunits are still hanging out by the machine for their turn.  They are sitting in stacks of 10, and every time I sit down to sew something else, I move a stack through.  Go over to Judy's to see what everyone else is up to on Design Wall Monday.  It is always fun to see what people got done on the weekend.

  1. Looks good so far. Will you get it done before school starts back up for you? Hope so for your sake. Another Bonnie Mystery I did not do! Too much work for me.

  5. Great block design! I work in batches too...I get bored with one task, so I need to move around to different tasks :)

  6. Quilter's ADD insists that we keep different tasks available at-hand as to not get too bored with anything :0)

VERY impressed with your weekend progress, and I think your design change works nicely with your color placements :0)

  9. I like your color choices! Though I downloaded this quilt, the number of pieces plus the string blocks put the brakes on for me at this point. Someday, someday...

I like to work in batches too. Not so tedious!

  10. I only looked at the RRCB, the string blocks got me too. I don't have that many neutrals in my scraps. Yet another of Bonnie's I didn't do...
I did start using the bowties for Leader/enders. That's do-able!

  13. I love your color choices. I've chain pieced all my half square triangles and have about 75 or so left to square up. I can see how doing parts in batches would be nice so you don't get burned out on 600 of anyone thing! And you can see how your blocks are turning out. I really like this particular Bonnie quilt :)
