Poor Ryan wasn't quite as lucky and failed to get a bid to state for Legos. I keep reminding him that he is still going to state for Mathcounts, but he is still sad. Good lessons to learn.

ReplyDeleteWhat an exciting evening; it's always wonderful as a parent to see your children succeeding, and so sad when they don't, though we have to be positive and tell them that it's the taking part that counts, even though we want to scoop them up and hug them better.

ReplyDeleteSorry Ryan's weekend wasn't equally successful, but you are right losing gracefully is a lesson that needs to be learned too.
Congrats to Anna. What a wonderful achievement. And it's tough to see our children sad but someday Ryan will remember the fun he had rather than the lack of "the states".
ReplyDeleteHow thrilling!!! And as you say, it is good for Ryan to learn that sometimes others win and sometimes we win. He is also excelling in his field - and maybe next year he'll place in Legos :)

ReplyDeleteCongrats! I remember my days of Science Fair...5 of us made it to the State competition one year. It was so fun! That is something that I will remember all of my life. I am happy to see that teens are still enjoying the science fairs.

ReplyDeleteParticipating in events is so good for kids! My DD was in sports and my DS is in academic events. He has been helping the younger kids get started in our Science Fair which is good for him.
