ScrapHappy Saturday - Aquamarine Seas

Today is the last scraphappy Saturday in teal.  I know some of you have substituted blues and greens to finish out the month and that is great!  Whatever you can do to keep using up those scraps is good.  Because it is the last Saturday of the month, I will also have the monthly giveaway of beautiful hand dyed fabric from Vicki Welsh.  Vicki has been kind enough to send some of her fabric for me to share with the RSC participants.  To enter, just leave a comment telling me how many scaphappy blocks, projects or quilts you have finished so far.  The prize will be random though, so no need to exaggerate!  I'll be announcing the new color soon, so make sure you are getting ready to move on.

  1. I've done pretty with with scrappy blocks this year. Here's the count:
    Butterfly blocks - 3
    Inverted Star blocks - 2
    RSCS Blocks - 21

Plus this year I'm organizing each color's scraps as they come up. So it should be easier next year to work from the scrap stash.

  2. Here's my RSC14 progress for this year:

    Blocks
    Blue - 15
    Pink - 35
    Teal - 8

    1 Teal table topper complete

1 scrappy jelly roll race quilt made while sorting the teals in the colors of blues/greens with some orange thrown in is quilted and needs a binding.

    Whohoo! Now that's progress!

  3. I think I did good this month! 12 churn dashes to join the other 24. 13 Hexie flowers to join the garden. 12 cat blocks that had to be made and 7 sampler blocks in teal. I also have a 16 patch block in teals. Not bad for a company month.

  4. I haven't done well this month. I have only made one teal block. I finished a pink doll quilt. I have made 13 pink bow tie blocks, 2 house blocks, 3 blocks you posted directions, and I have made some patch blocks big and little. Hopefully I can get back on my rainbow track.

  14. I think I've done 12 or so of the teal blocks but don't have a total count. I'm hoping to make some really cute, colorful baby quilts from these blocks at the end of the year for donation. Thanks for hosting!

  15. I've had a slow aqua month and not much leftover. Oh how I wish I could get rid of those greens and blues. Are you sure we had a blue month already? My drawer is still overflowing. OK, back to the subject at hand, I made my 2 kaleidoscope blocks and 8 butterfly blocks for the row quilt.

  16. I'm late to the game. I haven't finished any projects but I have made 3 blocks this year. One in every color.

  17. I'm too lazy to count all the blocks made since the beginning of the year since a lot of them are being added to last year's projects. I do know that I make 3 kaleidoscope blocks each month, 1 postage stamp sunbonnet sue block each month and add to my spools, butterflies, little monkeys and little sparklers.

I did just finish the red crumb star quilt from last year's crumb blocks for Quilts of Valor. (60x80)

  18. Since my blocks are so large, I have done one in each color, but have added two aqua blocks for my NY Beauty blocks.

  20. This is my third year sewing rainbow scrap challenge blocks and quilts. So far I've made 8 rainbow quilts and 20 hot pads/pot holders. This year I've made 20 sampler blocks, 6 cat blocks, 32 scrappy strings blocks, a dozen 8.5" blocks, 6 house blocks, and 8 mug blocks. This challenge encourages me to turn my scraps into colorful and fun, useful gifts and donation quilts and gifts. Thank you for hosting the RSC sew along, Angela.

  21. I've completed about 45 cornered 4-patch units (15ish of each color) for my RSC14 project, 4-patch revisited. I love having a year long RSC project, but this year I am really focusing on using up scraps by finishing up my UFOs!

  23. March hasn't been a great month for scraps, which is a pity since I have lots of teal scraps. However, during January, February and March I've made about 25 blocks.

  24. I have made quite a few scrap happy blocks...but I don't know how many I have left because Mystic Quilter's cats keep stopping by to catch the cranes/swans and mice! The two turtles are fine, though.

  25. I have a lot of RSC blocks, no finished quilts yet, hopefully this year! 67 Paintbox blocks, need 80. 64 Rainbow of heart blocks, not sure how many I need. 54 Scrappy Trip Along, I'd better lay these out to see how big this is! Lot's of leaders and enders and a bunch of blocks cut (scrap management) for future projects. Phew!

I went on a search for fat quarters in town, but no go so waited till I went to Utah for Spring Break. There are so many LQSs out there! I haven't made them into blocks yet because. .. I was in Utah for a week! I've mad 26 snowball blocks so far in pink and blue.

  30. March was a slow month for my RSC blocks, but I am happy to get any of my scraps used up. I was surprised at how many blocks I made in February and January until I realized a lot of them were 4 patch blocks. Thanks for the motivation.

    45 Blue

  31. I think I've finished around 36 blocks so far this year, although they won't all go in the same quilt. I'm within 2 borders of finishing a teal quilt top and on the last leg of hand-stitching the binding on one of my 2012 RSC quilts.

  32. So far I´ve finished 3 scrapbags. Blue, pink and teal (or turquoise I´d rather call it). I still have a lot of blue scraps left, so I guess I´ll sew another scrapbag :)

  34. The month that the color was pink I did great -- a completed baby quilt of pink scraps with some grey solid sashing. This month I haven't gotten a single teal or aqua block done -- and I probably have more scraps in those colors than any other! Maybe in the next couple days. I have finished several scrappy quilts this year, just not ones that really fit the RSC challenge.

  35. Lots of aqua hexies this month and nearly finished my new teal tote bag. A couple of houses finished in both colours! Still great fun!

  36. This month I did 2 pinwheel combo blocks, 11 3 inch bow ties, 11 6 inch bow ties and 8 triple four patch blocks.Looking forward to the next colour.

  38. Are you sniggering at all these comments? Bet you aren't - you'll be too busy soaking up the sun.
I have done 36 blocks in total, 12 for each colour.
Oh! And you are mean making us all wait for the next colour announcement. LOL
