I hope you are all feeling a little of the red hot summer heat. Well, for those of us in the northern hemisphere anyway. Here is the U.S. we are enjoying a long holiday weekend. I know that Canadians just celebrated Canada day as well. Hopefully with all that celebrating, you will all find a few minutes to sew a stitch or two. We've just started on red, so far I have some 2 inch squares worked into nine patches as leaders and enders, a last few Dear Jane blocks, and just three new sampler blocks I think. I SO much enjoyed the midyear round-up on Wednesday and can't wait to start wrapping some things up in the second half of the year.
To welcome in a new color, let's celebrate with a giveaway of a beautiful hand dyed fabric by Vicki Welsh. Just leave a comment on this post. Let's see.... what should it be this month?..... I know, give me one color that you still hope to see as part of the challenge before the end of the year. I'll leave draw a random number before next Saturday's linky party and let you know who the lucky winner is.

You have done some great red blocks.
ReplyDeleteI hope to get my photos and post up tomorrow.
I think I would like orange. Not that I have much of it but it is a nice bright colour
Last week was a busy week for me, so no sewing = no red blocks. The mid week round up was fabulous - loved the wonderful rainbow line up.
ReplyDeleteI vote for orange too. I did not have a single scrap of orange in my stash at the start of the year, so I panicked and begged and borrowed from my friends. They were all exceedingly generous and I have been waiting for the orange month ever since to use them. LOL
I would also love to see some orange...it reminds me of fall. Plus I have lots of orange scraps to use up!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the blocks you post!
No stitching for me either this week. Hopefully there will be some for next week.
ReplyDeleteI'd also like to see orange. Not that I have lots of orange scraps, but I do have more then I used too since I actually finished a orange quilt last year.
I would like to use orange, but maybe we can separate red/orange from pink/orange (salmon, peach); I'm afraid we're going to have more months than colours!
ReplyDeleteloving the motivation of a color every month, and a linky on Saturdays. we're super busy with the gardens at this time of year, but it's nice to have a "reason" to sit and sew for a few minutes! I'm hoping for the "boring" colors- black/grey/neutral/brown.

ReplyDeleteCute little 9Ps.
Didn't get a chance to take photos for mid-year link but saw a lot of awesome and gorgeous projects going on.
I have a lot of neutral scraps so looking forward to that "color".
I am hoping for orange next month--I already have a stack of hexies cut out.
ReplyDeleteLoved the mid year round up. I'm looking forward to black/grey so I can make some mice and start my plan for the midnight flower garden. Although... I'll have lots of hand work time once school starts next month.
ReplyDeleteJust to be difficult...I'm going to vote for persimmon!
ReplyDeleteNo sewing this week. Just unpacking and resting up from two weeks of travel- fun, but sooo glad to be home with nothing to do. Thinking of using up some red stash this week :)
ReplyDeleteI'm for orange too but if you're thinking of more than one colour what about navy or indigo. Have we had our fifty shades of grey? I think some of these may add a bit of drama but might not fit with the rainbow concept. WE could say they are the skies before the storm that brought on the rainbow. :-)
ReplyDeleteI would like orange. I have fallen off the rainbow wagon. I need to get busy and make rainbow blocks.
ReplyDeleteIt's not a rainbow color, but I need to work on some black blocks.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see orange or brown come up one of these months! Or gold. Hmmm, guess I'm channeling autumn colors ...
ReplyDeleteJeanne :)
I love to read so many comments requesting orange. It is one of my favourite colours and I like to say that orange is like an innocent version of red. All hot and fiery but without the bad rep!
ReplyDeleteBrown or orange would work for me. Have a lot of brown scraps.
ReplyDeleteYay! Now I can go through my hexie box and find all of the reds to work on for the month.
ReplyDeleteI love this as it's going to keep me motivated to get this box of hexies made.
Oops, I forgot to put in a color. However, I'm not sure what the others you have done besides Yellow in June.
ReplyDeleteI have hexies in all colors and even if I didn't have enough of those, I'm sure I could find whatever color in my stash of fabrics to work with.
In other words, the color doesn't matter to me.
Love your red blocks and fabrics. Enjoyed your Dear Jane block posts. Your mid year RSC progress "link up" post was fun, too.
ReplyDeleteI vote for orange. Working with orange scraps makes me remember HOT summer days when I was young and sometimes ate Orange Popsicle Ice Cream.
Orange is a no-brainer and I love it, but I'd also love to see gray and/or black & white as a combo. Color play is so much fun!
ReplyDeleteHave you done orange yet? I love orange, almost as much as red.
ReplyDeleteHugs
I am looking forward to orange! I thought for sure that would be the next color, but the red was fun to work with also.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't in the mood for red yet, but todays display has me all inspired! Great batch of blocks and projects.
ReplyDeleteI have an abundance of blacks and neutrals I would like to use up!
ReplyDeleteRed is good for me! I've been working on some hexies today and they just happen to bethe right colour and I didn't even know!
ReplyDeleteWow, a lot of votes for orange! I would be okay with orange, too, though it might be nice to have a cooler color for the hot August days. What about any pastel or pale color in your stash? That could cool us off.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to stack the deck, because I am an Orange Girl - lots of orange scraps, fat quarters and yardage to boot.
ReplyDeleteWhat colors... Brown, orange, and grey are still on my list of "need to make," but my orange scraps are virtually nonexistent and the others are not far behind!
ReplyDeleteI've found a load of black on white and white on black scraps. That would be interesting xx
ReplyDeleteHow about gold? And orange too!
