ScrapHappy Saturday - Home Again

I'm home again after a fabulous trip to Cancun.  I'm off in the morning though to take Anna to Genius Olympiad in upstate New York.  I'm looking forward to our outing to Niagara Falls.  So I'll enjoy checking up on all of your baby blue blocks, even though I haven't made many of mine.  I did spend some time before vacation making more little nine patches out of these 1 inch strip sets.
Here is a misterlinky for all of your updates.

  1. Enjoy New York. Sounds like you've got quite a hectic schedule this summer.

  2. I didn't know what Genius Olympiad was, so I've just gone to take a look. What an accolade to be able to say you had taken part in that! Well done Anna. Hope you both have a ball in New York

  7. You're not alone in not having any blue blocks to show. I'm sill on holiday and my sewing production is almost nil. Enjoy your trips this week.

  11. I love Niagara Falls. When I lived in western NY I went to see the falls once a month. Go for the Maid of the Mist ride. If they still have the train ride, take it. You can get off and on and you'll get to see all different parts of the falls and the little islands. You'll be amazed at how close you are or can get to the river. It's a grewt time to visit. It may be a bit humid. If you see "Beef on Weck" on any menus, get it. It's a roast beef sandwich on a kummelwick roll. I've never seen these rolls any place else than western NY. Western NY has grewt chicken wings, too, as they originated at the Anchor Bar. The original recipe had the wings fried, then tossed with hot apsauce and melted butter, and then baked. They were so hot but so good. Most places only fry the wings and then dump hot sauce on them. Perry's Ice Cream is delicious. Also, go to a grocery store and get the Bison brand onion dip for chips. It's amazing - all of us who live in CA but used to live in NY don't understand why they can't make dips that way here. Yes, I did more than eat when I lived there. Buffalo has so much to see, too. I'd move back as I miss the rolling hills and all the greenery but I can't take the winters. Have a wonderful time!!!
