Hit a Wall

All of my handwork time for the last few days has been spent on finishing up Jane.  So here is some handwork to keep me happy tonight while I am snuggled under a quilt sipping hot cocoa.  It is COLD here today.  It is 47 right now with a high for the day of 54.  I know that doesn't seem cold to normal people, but for Florida kids who don't own long pants, cold it is.  There is a snowman from some Christmas fabric for today's circle.
I was on a great roll yesterday, getting lots accomplished, when suddenly, I was just DONE.  So the Chevron postage stamps will wait patiently, probably for a weekend to get some more attention. Circles and binding should be plenty to keep me out of trouble until then.

  1. I understand what you mean by "cold" I have been freezing for three days now, only one if which was under freezing and only for a very short time.

  2. Cold at 47? LOL It was 15 this morning in Nashville, 24 now at 6:30pm. Expecting snow and ice tomorrow. When I went to college on Lake Erie folks asked me what I thought of the snow, as if I lived in Florida! I know, I know, it's all relative. You deserve a break.

  5. Cuddled under a quilt hand stitching sounds like a great place to be when it is cold! Enjoy the slow stitching and cocoa.

  6. Cold is relative, so you are just as welcome to snuggle up with a quilt and cocoa in a 47-degree Florida day as we are here in Utah when it is in the 20's and snowing! And I know exactly how you can be sewing like the wind and then WHAM! You are just done. Over for the day! I even took a break all day today (errands, taxes) for a bit of a change. I'm already looking forward to getting back to sewing in the morning. Stay warm!

  7. I think the humidity can make it feel colder ... plus houses in warm weather places are often not as well insulated ... so comparing the temperature in two places isn't always fair. Yesterday in Santa Fe, it warmed up to 42, the air was very dry and the dun was shining (at least for a while), so I walked to the post office to mail my cotton robin and some Lotto blocks. I was wearing layers, but it was quite pleasant.

  8. My kids were so happy with the 26 this morning - they got to scrape the car off! One home sick today so it will be a snuggle under the quilts day for her. I called my Mom yesterday and told her my feet were freezing it was very cold at 54. She laughed at me and said try a high of 8 degrees! Wishing we had better insulated windows down here..... Stay warm and enjoy those stitches.

  11. Cold is definitely relative. 14 degrees feels like a heat wave when we have had a series of below zero days. Lately though it is getting colder, so 14 does feel cold. Your circles continue to look great.

  12. I woke to the sound of sleet on my window early this morning, and snow/sleet have been falling all morning. My plan of running errands today has been shelved - it's going to be a lovely day with the needle instead - aaaahhhhhh!!!! A few circles will definitely be sewn down today :)

  14. I too am cold today here on the mid East coast of Florida--have long sleeves and socks on-rare for me -- I do not care for the hot hot days that they say we get here ( have only been here since Sept and there was some hot days then--)but I love the hotter weather-- I am hand quilting a rather large quilt so that has kept me warm evenings and is a good time to be working that project--also just prepped 10 wool blocks for Buttermilk Basins bom last year as I know this is the only time of the year I will want to work on wool, now living in Fl--so what part of the state are you in???
    want to go to lunch??
    love and laughter, di

  15. Cold is relative, I agree. But being accustomed to -30 degree January temps in Vermont (which I don't miss at all!), anything above 0 sounds warm to me...
Enjoy your quilt snuggling - that's what you make them for, right?

  17. Cold is a relative thing. Cold and damp is much worse than cold and dry. You've made so much progress already this year, so you are probably due for a break.

  18. Have to laugh about your cold weather. We're expecting 1-2 feet of snow over the weekend. Any chance I could get a heads up on February color? I'm going to Florida for vacation and then retreat immediately upon returning. I'm trying to plan my retreat projects.

  19. Grin. I want to be sorry for you...but I am Canadian, and live in central Alberta...where 47-50 F is SPRING-like for us. It was mild here today (0 C which is about 32 F)...I guess it's all relative. Hope you haven't had that nasty storm about which I've heard on the news up here...Stay cozy!
