A New Month -- An New Color

Welcome to August.  I was out of town and almost forgot that a new month was already here.  Misty mountains are the color inspiration for this time around.  Think of the hazy purple of a dawn sky with hints of evergreens.  We've done the bright and happy purples already, so feel free to dip into the grey bin if you are low on the purples.  I'm always looking for an excuse to play with the neutral shades, but I know that a lot of you prefer the more colorful shades.
This will be our block.  A nice simple bullseye.  I made the blocks for the rest of the year already, but just need to write up the tutorial for you all.   I'd better get it done soon, because Wednesday is back to school for teachers.  Already!
We were lucky to be able to make a trip up to see Kurt's family in North Carolina and then swing through Atlanta on the way home to see mine.

  1. Criminal. Absolutely criminal that you are starting school on Wednesday. You reminded me how far into the summer we are now. We start September 1. Thanks again for this terrific challenge. It has kept me sane (well almost) this year.

  2. Thanks for the update. Hazy purple and a hint of evergreen?! I'll have to scour the scrap bins for that combo! May end up going gray. Will see what I can come up with...

  3. A very fun color combination. I'm probably going to play with the grays this month and see where that goes.

  4. Oh, yay! I definitely will be getting my grey on! I've been waiting for grey or more yellow for a quilt for my mom.

  5. Can't believe you guys go back to school this early! I am in Pennsylvania and it is always around right before or after Labor Day.

This looks like purple-yellowish to me which will work...

  7. Starting school already (even just teachers) is depressing. That is sure an abbreviated respite for you! As for the colors, I'm confused since I already did (all) purples and (all) greens.... So it looks like I will call this a neutrals month of grays and blacks, etc.

  8. I may have to sit this month out. I'm running low on purples, and don't have a lot of gray. I have a couple of other scrap projects in mind, so I'll work on them this month. Inherited a bag of scraps a couple of weeks ago . . . .

  10. I can probably find one more purple fabric if not in my stash, it'll be in a friend's stash. What's a friend for, right? ;^)

  14. I'm always up for any shade of purple! 8) And I've got some grays, too, that would be happy to come out and play, so looks like this will be a good month!
And you shouldn't even have to be *thinking* about school for at least another couple of weeks. So sad...

  17. I have tons of lavendars but they are currently at my mom's house a few states away. I have been slowing building my greys because I want to do a bear paw quilt with greys in the background.

  18. I have purple from before to work on. I need to get back to being "soscrappy" so I hope you don't mind if I work from where I left off there.
I do hope to start a colored string quilt too though. Maybe starting tomorrow my goal can at least be to look through my strip scraps and pull out anything purple.

  19. I had the same question as Julie and Betty - 3 or 6 inch block? Does it matter?
