Somehow yesterday turned into spring cleaning day. I hadn't planned it that way, but Kurt got out the pressure washer and one thing led to another.... You know how it goes. So today was going to be my relaxation day. Somehow a morning run led to a grocery store trip and then the errands began. My mind is still not adjusted to the time change yet, so I'll sit and ponder that a bit. Florida has just passed a law to stay on daylight savings time all year round. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I think it will lead to a lot more of going to school in the dark. The more evening daylight part will be nice though.
Just back now from picking out fabrics for Katherine's T-shirt quilt for graduation. I don't usually take commission quilts, but I made one for each of her older brothers. One thing leads to another again. The request was for Tiffany blue. I couldn't find just the right shade, but I am really fond of the flannel backing. The fabrics are in the washer now, so I think I'll just sit here and rest for a bit while they finish up. I promised a final layout before the end of the day. I've been sewing a few more hexies in the evenings. Just blue and purple so far, but green is up next.
I went through all the lime green scraps to cut one of each for my collection. Then I found some extra circles and background fabrics cut away from behind the circles of two years ago and turned all of those into still more hexies. It looks like I'll have plenty of handwork to keep me busy on the next long trip. I've got flights to Paris and Kansas City to look forward to this summer, so hexie diamonds will be a nice way to pass the hours.

I've often wishes Indiana would stay on Daylight Savings time. I would rather have the extra daylight in the evening. Yes, the children will go to school in the dark, but they do anyway when we fall back.
ReplyDeleteDaylight savings time. Interesting topic. I guess I go with the flow, though as I age, I realize that it affects me more as a surprise that the time is not what I thought it was.
ReplyDeleteI so love your hexies. After seeing your photo on Kathy's Quilts, I just had to pop in and see what you were doing with them! So pretty!
Our day was similar to yours...we had plans, that never worked out. I am also planning some take a long hexie projects for some Summer time travel. I think I will follow your lead and sort them by color.
ReplyDeleteGreat hexies! And you're going to Paris? I love Paris! That will be a nice, long flight for you to get plenty of stitching done. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I'd care if nationally, we stayed on Daylight Savings or Standard. I just wish we'd pick one and stick with it, instead of bouncing the clocks around twice a year. It's horrible for little kids!
ReplyDeleteWhen you travel, what do you carry for your handsewing tools? I have a cross-country flight this fall (US East to West Coast), and I'd love to work on some stitching on the plane. But something tells me my thread-clipping scissors would not make it past the security check. Is there a specific item anyone can recommend for that? Thanks!
Your prepped up hexies look so inviting. Like chocolates in a candy box. Thanks for sharing with Oh Scrap!
ReplyDeleteI wish that all states would just pick a time and stick with it like YINZ did ( PA for you all :)
ReplyDeleteI think that will pass for Tiffany Blue. Looking forward to the T-Quilt layout!!
ReplyDeleteLook at all those lovely hexies - have fun sewing them together
ReplyDeleteWell, I, as usual, am different - I prefer to stay on NO DST! OR at least go back to April/Oct. I have never liked it. Although it seems that the loss of the hour doesn’t bother me as much as it has started bother me to get the hour back - but now I will have to remember that AZ and FL are different time frames. Now in November I think FL will be 2 hours ahead and AZ only 1 hour behind...... Oh darn!!!
ReplyDeleteOh well! Like your hexes!
Looks like you have a good start on your hexies. Love how you have organized them by color. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteA trip to Paris.... fun! Looks like you will have plenty of handwork for any future trips.
ReplyDeleteI will be happy to not have the change in time... I just wish all the US would do that. It was always so difficult to change the kids schedules .... and I did like my walk last evening in the sunshine =).
Getting a lot done sounds like a great weekend to me. Your hexies looks so pretty all lined up like that!
ReplyDeleteI just love how neatly organized your Hexi storage box is. It is just so cute!
ReplyDeleteI have not yet fallen in love with the "making" part of hexies, but I do love them!
I am visiting from http://dreamworthyquilts.blogspot.com and am currently logged into a different Google account which would make me hard to find.
