Mindless Sewing

I am mindlessly sewing and it feels good.  No plan today other than to empty bags of extra bits and pieces.  These tiny nine patches and churn dashes were from the OMG! quilt of several years ago.   They are fairly random, but I'm enjoying the fondling of the fabric today.   NOT thinking about the 1,623 Covid cases and 8,303 quarantines my district has managed to accomplish in the first two weeks of school.  NOT thinking about the 11 positive staff members at my school.   Most of them should be back soon, not the ones who were very sick, but the mildly symptomatic and vaccinated portion of the group.   Celebrating small victories.

  1. Mindless sewing helps! So sorry your area is suffering from Covid again. We've lost people to flooding this weekend. It's always something, isn't it. Mindless sewing helps ...

  2. you guys have it rough in Florida - it is hard to not think about it though isn't it - I live in a rather small county in Arkansas and when I check the population of the county versus how many cases we have had since the start of this it is easy to calculate that 1/6th of the county has had or currently has the virus - and that is just those that had it bad enough to get tested!! I'm darn tired of staying home most of the time and from last count I think my county barely has 35%of the eligible population vaccinated - they just won't do it. I'm immune suppressed so need to be careful and will be getting the booster

  3. You certainly have my sympathy and I'm certainly thinking of you. Mindless sewing will stop you thinking forca while at least of what is happenning in your area. School is certainly not a safe place to be at all, it seems.

  7. Lovely blocks, I see a lovely quilt in the future, lol.

"Fondling of the fabric" is great therapy. My thoughts and prayers are with you, such a scary time, especially for teachers.

  9. It is a frightening and frustrating time. We have a new infant grandchild to add to the worries, and older grands in schools where they need to be picked up after mingling with unvaccinated and unmasked peers. How to keep everyone safe is a constant theme here, with no answers, only hope.

  10. Omygosh has helped me keep sane in this crazy world we have to live in at the moment. With so much bad news it is difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel. We just have to believe in hope, that soon this will be over and we can move forward into the future. Our sewing and crafts help us in many ways. Know that we are all in the same boat, we feel for each and everyone going through this. Some of us have lost loved ones to this and our lives have changed forever. For those of us here, we have to stay positive and fill the world with good and love. What will define us? We get to choose. Have a wonderful week, sending you virtual hugs!

  13. We were all so hopeful that this school year would be different. As I am retired, I can choose to stay home. My heart grieves for the vaccinated teachers and nurses who have to endure such stress for a 2nd year. Why do so many people still not get that this is a serious illness and there's a way to prevent it? Here's hoping the angels are on your side Angela, and will keep you safe.

  14. Fabric fondling and sewing scraps is the only way to stay sane through all of this craziness! They are predicting a 4th wave here once school starts in September. I just hope you stay protected and sane! Sending you big hugs with masks and face shields LOL

  15. I am so happy you get time for some mindless sewing, that’s so important. I’m wrapping up a project and have two borders to go. I have the quilt top pinned to my design wall and different fabrics placed around the edges. While I decide what’s the next border I am doing a little therapeutic, mindless sewing myself. Please take care of yourself, mentally and physically. Praying for teachers and students - all around the world! What a stressful time indeed. Sending socially distanced hugs and lots of good wishes your way!

  17. OMG It will be so hard to go to work knowing Sydney is home and sick! Glad Kurt will be able to be home, but that is a worry too. Glad you are NEG.
Hope things work out with Ryan. We never stop worrying about our kids, no matter how old they get.
Hugs and good thoughts coming your way. So glad my Floridian littles (8 and 5) are in online school.

  18. I am hoping your life gets less complicated! Goodness knows you are living right on the edge right now. I am glad to hear your daughter doesn't have a dire case of Covid. May all of you be blessed with a great sense of peace right now and to know all will get better. Your Father in Heaven knows you so well and loves you dearly.

  21. As an ICU nurse, of an amazing 38yrs long career bearing witness to God's great love for us, I know what a medical miracle is!
The first time that I saw an HIV patient cured with African herbs prepared by Dr. Utu Herbal Cure was in my 20yrs of nursing career, I felt God's presence with humans. He guides those he has chosen to live. I am a complete believer in God and I can testify he is so wonderful that he has given us all it takes to survive and save our surroundings!
I have recommended DR UTU HERBAL CURE to HERPES VIRUS patients, PSORIASIS patients, and many others who have come to me for remedy and they ALL testified to have been permanently healed.
DR UTU can nonetheless be reached today on drutuherbalcure@gmail.com
