Finally, Some Sewing!

I just got back from taking Anna to her ice skating recital.  She was on for about 4 minutes out of a 2.5 hour show, so I sat in the snack bar and watched through the window while getting some reading done for school.  I paid very close attention during her part of the show though, and I'm sure she didn't notice that I wasn't freezing my tushie off in the bleachers all that time.  She was snoozing hard on the way home, but woke up just as I opened the door to snap a photo.
I also stopped on the way home to get a quick shot of these baby sandhill cranes.  The little chicks are so sweet that I couldn't resist.

Finally though, the long awaited red scrappy nine patches are starting to come together!  I am going to turn these into a small quilt for the entryway. I haven't had lots of extra time recently, and may not for a while, but as long as I can steal away a few minutes every now and again I will be a happy quilter.  Now, I'm back to work.  Monday is a teacher workday, and Tuesday if my first day at my new job, I'd better make sure I'm ready!

  16. Love that 9-patch (Red Irish Chain -cute!) and the picture of your daughter is adorable. Someday, you can embarrass her with that, probably. LOL I love the sandcranes. We used to stay in a place in Texas in the spring, and it had sandhill cranes. Love the noise.

  17. Wow, I'm just catching up on your blog and it seems you have had some major changes, new school and such. I am so behind in my blog reading. I love the picture of the sandhill cranes, I wish that I could have blown it up and seen the babies a bit better, but I can see that they are adorable. It's a great picture.
