ScrapHappy Saturday -- Counting Down

Just three more Saturdays this year!  Hard to believe that we are almost done.  The best part of finishing though, is a chance for fresh starts.  As I begin to plan for next year, I'd like to start collecting color ideas for 2017.  Just leave me a comment so that I can begin to compile a list for the new year.
First though, let us know how your end of the year is begining to wrap up.

  1. Hard to believe we are so close to wrapping up 2016. I know what blocks I'm making for the challenge next year, but I can't think of anything on how to change up the "color" que. Though I've started using red-violet to round out my blocks, and that's a color you've not included in recent years.

  2. I'd love to see a month of "multicolor," as those scraps forever get tucked back in the box as I resist using them. I tried to cut up lots of them for next year's scrappy quilts.

  3. I'm looking forward to the holidays and having time to sort through all my projects and set some goals for next year!

  4. I'm with Katie Z. on having a "multi-color" month! Those prints rarely get used in my RSC projects. Looking forward to another year of RSC fun!!!

  6. I fell behind on the RSC this year but am already looking forward to 2017. And I can just continue adding blocks to my 2016 group while working on 2017 too. I love bright colors the best.

  7. This year's colors were certainly a challenge for me, being subtle in many cases. I do like the brights and multis would be interesting. Or positions on the color wheel. Whatever you come up with, I'll be there for it. Thanks again, Angela, for making Rainbow Scrap Challenge such a fun and accepting place to meet.

  8. Oh, thank goodness. You've been so quiet this year that I was afraid you were going to call it quits for RSC17. I hardly kept up, but I faithfully followed everyone else and found so many possibilities for future blocks/projects. Can't wait to get back on track.

  9. I think it would be good to have a month of neutrals. We all love our primary and secondary colors, but if my scraps are any indication, we all probably have black/grays and white/beiges coming out our drawers (literally)! I didn't care for the "smoky purple and acid green" month this year because those hues had already been covered; purple month was all purples and green month was all greens. But I'll roll with whatever you throw at us. The Multi-colored month is a good idea too; I could make a quilt out of those scraps that refuse to be categorized!

  10. Thanks for hosting a great RSC this year! I am happy RSC17 is in the works. It really helped me this year in having Nov and Dec without an assigned color. They were used as 'catch up' months.

  11. Thank you for the rainbow challenge this year. I will look forward to it in 2017.
I like the guidelines and monthly patterns for blocks yet I enjoy seeing all the ones that are totally different too. I like a designated color each month because it makes it more of a challenge. Multi color fabrics can be used if a person figures out the dominant color of that fabric. Maybe I am not understanding what people are meaning by lets do a multi color fabric. Whatever you decide to do will be fun and interesting.

  13. So glad you are considering doing this again in 2017. I think I need to have a day when I dump all the boxes of scraps and get them sorted... might be a good activity for the kids while school is off. I like working a color a month... but I'll roll with whatever is selected. Neutrals as a month would be good, to somehow even things out with the brights or provide an accent in quilts. I've been putting aside blocks for the challenge on my projects page so I'll have to consult that to see what I need to prep for. Hopefully I can get back in the swing of it this year and get more sewing time.

  14. I appreciate the effort you put into organizing this for us every year. I also appreciate the focus on a specific color you've been giving us (the accent color sort of threw me off at times this year). I can see one month dedicated to those multi-color scraps and another for neutrals in addition to the traditional rainbow hues. As for an overall quilt plan though, that'll be a challenge!

  16. I'm so glad to hear that the RSC is going to continue for another year! Thank you so much for all you do to keep it going.
I don't have any color suggestions that haven't already come up, but I do agree with including black/grey, white/beige, and multicolor as options.

  17. This year is the first time that I have participated in RSC. Thanks to your accent colors, I made a much livelier quilt. Whatever you decide to do next year will, I'm sure, help me bust those scraps and become a more adventurous quilter.

  18. I would love to join the race this year. I'm loving the rainbow colors that I've seen on various blogs throughout the year. Anything goes for me but I adore jewel colors.

  19. Sorry Rsc not race. Heaven help us if it's a race for 12 months!

  20. I, too, fell behind with my RSC this year. too much (happy stuff!) going on in October, November and December.. but i'll be back for 2017! I was also a bit thrown off by the addition of a second accent color, but it's no biggie. I just mostly didn't use it... I'm looking forward to a fresh start, and whatever you come up with!
