ScrapHappy Saturday - Winding Down

Merry Christmas Eve!  Or Happy First Day of Hanukkah if that is what you are celebrating today.  If it is neither of those, then happy third day of winter.  Hopefully you taken some time to finish up some of this year's projects to make room for something new next year.  If not, at least you have plenty to carry you over into the new year.  Next week will be the last Scraphappy Saturday of 2016.  Hopefully that means that you have some plans and schemes brewing for the new year.  Let's all plan on revealing our projects for the new year next week, and sharing our accomplishments for this year.

I have been quiet lately, but I'd very much like to continue the RSC for another year.  I think what I'll do this time is make a list of 10 colors ahead of time and then draw one out of a hat each month to keep the suspense going.  That will allow those of us who want to sort and plan to think ahead a bit.  So far I have strong votes for a multi color month, and I think I'll do one for light neutrals and one for dark neutrals.  So that is three problem children taken care of, add ROY G BV to that and we are almost there.  I don't know whether to separate the blue and indigo, or maybe split the reds instead into brights and darks?  Both of those are usually pretty big colors, so either could probably use two turns.
I appreciate everyones patience as my attention has been pulled in too many directions lately.  Hopefully the new year will be a new chance to refocus and reenergize.

  1. Angela, I am really looking forward to next year's rainbow scrap challenge. It seems to me that taking one color each month helps to keep me motivated at least by color. I still need to finish my RSC15 projects so I hope that you keep them up on your blog.

Thanks for hosting this project. I know you are very busy and I appreciate your hard work.

    Happy Holidays

  7. After reading the comments, I think it is safe to say that we all appreciate the time and effort you put every week into this "colour-coded-sewing-along". Personally, I am very happy to follow you every month and RSC2017 is already written in my planner. :^D Like the colour schedule except for the light neutrals. Most of us use light neutral scraps as background but it could be an option still. Just my little two pence. Hope you have wonderful holidays, filled with loved ones, laughter, pleasant surprises and health. ;^)

  10. I've been a happy RSC participant for two years. Yes, please do continue it for 2017! I know I'm not the only one who now sees potential rainbow blocks and patterns all year long.

    Merry Christmas!

  11. Merry Christmas to you and peaceful holidays!
Thank you for continuing RSC. Maybe each month have a light and dark of each color you chose? People could work their multi colored scraps in with those. The neutrals could also be pastels of that color. Anyway. You and all the participants are so creative that it will be another year of fun.

  12. Thank you so much for the work you do to organize the Rainbow Scrap Challenge! I have enjoyed it for several years, and even if I sometimes stray from your color choices, it's usually very helpful for someone else to tell me the colors on which to focus. I was/am all for multicolor, and the light and dark neutrals sound good too. I'm for splitting blue, or adding pink, but will be happy with whatever you choose. Merry Christmas and I wish you a bit of a breather!

  13. Angela,
I'm so glad you are continuing with RSC17. You've been so quiet, I was afraid you were feeling too overwhelmed to continue. I didn't get very far this year but I've multiple ideas for the future,so I'll be glad to play along no matted what colors you choose. Merry Christmas.

  14. I'm joining the chorus of 'thank you, thank you, thank you!' for all you do to make the RSC such a fun thing to play with! This is only my second year, but I'm totally hooked! (And busy dithering about what to sew for next year!)

  17. I join all the previous comments in thanking you for all you do to keep the RSC going. This is my favorite quilting link-up group. I love the flexibility of the "rules" and everyone is so supportive and generous with their comments.
I would like to keep greenish blue (teal/aqua/turquoise) as a color of the month; same with pink. I'm good with multicolor, also dark neutrals, okay with light neutrals. It's time for me to choose a project for 2017!
I hope you get some time for quilting over the Christmas break.

  18. Merry Christmas Angela. I love the idea of knowing what the 10 colours are at the start of the year, and then the fun of you choosing one each month as we go. I might just be making wonky stars again seeing as I fizzled out part way through this year and because I love them so much. Love the RSC, love your link-ups, love the community you've built. Thanks for all it. Looking forward to 2017.

  19. This was my first year with RSC and I had a great time. I loved how relaxed the rules and timetable are and that everyone does their own interpretation. Personally, I just skipped the months that I wasn't into that color. That's what I'll do in 2017 as well. I do like pink as a color separate from red, but that's easy enough to do on my own. Will you be releasing the list of the 10 colors? That was one thing I wished I had this year, I wished I had known which colors were in the hopper, so to speak. Thanks for all that you do in hosting this fun and unique sew along!

  20. Glad you are going to go ahead with RSC 17! I vote against indigo in favor of light blues and dark blues. I love the idea of a neutrals month -- and I especially love the idea of knowing all 10 colors at the beginning of the year without knowing which month will be which. That would help SO much for those of us who like to plan ahead. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and here's to the JOY of scrappy quilt making!
