April Fools

In honor of April Fool's day tomorrow, we are going to try to take a whack at our multicolor fabric.
We all have those great scraps that just don't fit into any of our monochromatic baskets.  This is the time to dig them all out and try to use them up once and for all.
Any "mixed" or "multi" prints are fair game this month.  It is also your chance to try to take care of those leftovers which contain bits and pieces of multiple colors that are leftover subunits from other projects.  You know the ones I mean right?  The sad leftovers that can't clearly be labeled as anything else.
I know this will be a challenging month for some, but I also know that I have a huge drawer of oddballs that I would love to do something fabulous with.  Good luck!

ScrapHappy Saturday - Red Roundup

Today is the last red Saturday.  There will be a new color before April Fools day.  Until then, enjoy the last of the crimson tide.

ScrapHappy Saturday - Really Red

It is sad not to be working on green on St. Patrick's day weekend.  Still, we are still working our way through red.  Unless you feel like cheating?  Either way, share with us all.  Misterlinky is below

OMG Quiltng progress

Lizzie was ready to try out the new quilt the minute I pulled it off the frame.
I quilted the top border first thing, but wasn't crazy about it, so I haven't done any of the other borders yet.  I am thinking of leaving the braid, but filling in with a stipple in the background to distract from the less than pefectness of it.
While I ponder those choices, Lizzie will help me to by inspecting the rest of the quilting.
The laundry is done and it is time to shift into school work.  I think I'll just sit here first and procrastinate a bit longer while I admire my quilt.  Sydney is off at lacrosse practice while Anna and Ryan are both working on makeup work for school.  Anna's is from being gone for her concussion, and Ryan's is from being gone for his robotics tournament.  Going to school is so much easier than being absent.
First though, I'm linking up with Oh Scrap.  Because nothing could be scrappier than a quilt made primarily from 1 inch strips.

ScrapHappy Saturday - Rolling in Red

The weeks just get busier and busier right now.  All good though, so I am thankful.  Ryan's robotics team qualified for worlds!  He is off again this weekend to another tournament, the bus has been taking back and forth to Orlando each day.  Unfortunately, that means that I am waking up at 4:30 automatically now.  Anna is recovered from her concussion.  She isn't allowed to play again yet, but she is working her way through the protocol and should be fully cleared by the end of next week.  School is always a rush of course.  The quarter ends on Tuesday so all the end of term odds and ends are getting cleared off my desk now.  I'm sure there is lots more, but all this typing is cutting into my sewing time.  Lots and lots of red nine patches made it through last weekend as I worked on the tiny nine patches.  If I can get some framed out today then I can add another row to that quilt.
What have you been up to in the sewing room?  Misterlinky is below.  Be sure to share with us all.

ScrapHappy Saturday - Ready for Red

The start of a new month is always fun here at the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.  Hopefully you all made great headway on your teal scraps and are ready to shift gears.  Red is on the agenda for March this year.  I've got a few tiny log cabins to get started with, but am off to see what other red projects need more progress.
I'm home today with Anna while Kurt and Sydney are volunteering at a Lego Robotic tournament and Ryan is off at a Robotic competition of the big boy kind.  Anna thinks she is all better, but she isn't of course, and getting her to rest is not an easy task.

New Month -- New Color

Thanks to a random drawing from my crayon box, the new color for March will be RED.  So sorry that I didn't post it yesterday.  Anna took a stick to the head at a lacrosse game on Tuesday night and so we spent the day yesterday with doctors.

A CAT scan takes only two minutes, but the doctors visits added up to 7 hours, mostly of sitting in various examination and waiting rooms.  All is well though, no brain bleeds at all, no skull fractures, and her symptoms are slowly improving with complete "brain rest".  Apparently resting ones brain is incredibly boring though and grumpiness has set in.  It will be a while before she is back into lacrosse, the concussion recovery protocol doesn't even start until the doctor clears her, hopefully next Wednesday.  Until then, lots of naps in dark rooms and trying not to do anything mentally stimulating.
Has anyone managed to finish any quilts in February?  I can do a special month-end round-up post if there are finished quilts to share.  Let me know!
