After a day and a half of nonstop stitching, OMG is done. Hoping to get something other than the traditional receding rectangle photo of a quilt on the ground, I enlisted a couple of quilt holders with a ladder.
They were happy to hold it for a split second, long enough to snap a quick photo.
And then, they were off again! We were lucky to get in the quick photo shoot before the rain started to pour.

Here is the back. A nice paisley print with some pink peacocks. One end was just a touch short, and needed to be stretched out with a tiny bit of extra border fabric.
Things are not looking good for Irma. As soon as the rain lets up, I should head out and make sure the hurricane supplies are restocked just in case.
Congrats! on a spectacular finish and best of luck in the face of the hurricane.
ReplyDeleteIt's fantastic! I adore it!!
ReplyDeleteI know it's hard to get qualified quilt holders, so you were lucky to get one good full quilt shot!
Hope you are safe and sound there!
Oh! This is beautiful Angela! Funny, where your photo shoot occurred looks so MUCH like the condo we used to have in a gated community in Bradenton. Will be watching Irma...
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful finish! Congrats! Yes, still time to prepare but it is not looking good on the hurricane front. I've checked through our supplies and other than filling a couple of big water jugs and getting more batteries I think we are good. Hoping she stays out to the East and doesn't come near FL.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is huge! And very pretty. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThere's something about a simple/traditional block done in a rainbow of colors that just speaks to me.
ReplyDeleteI thought of you when I saw Irma's projected path this morning. My SIL is in Savannah and is concerned, as well. Fingers crossed for you both.
Yeah, I guess no matter which way it goes you guys will get some of Irma. I hope we can dodge that bullet here in Louisiana. I don't think I could do another hurricane here right now! Stay safe

Congratulations! It's beautiful! At least you got your helpers to hold it for one picture. Stay safe during the storm. Hope most of it misses you.
ReplyDeleteWow, congratulations on a SUPER, gorgeous finish!! That has to be one of my all-time favorite quilts. SO beautiful and happy!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on a BEAUTIFUL finish! I love everything about this quilt.
ReplyDeleteI've been watching the storm's projected path. We live in North Carolina and though it was coming our way. Yesterday we bought supplies, water, etc. Now it looks like it is going to be coming your way instead. So sorry about that. Still hoping it will turn and go out to seas miss all of us. Please take care and be safe.
Great finish. I would not like to live near and have to deal with hurricanes. Having a hail storm once a year is bad enough.
ReplyDeleteWonderful finish! It's been fun watching this one take shape over the past couple (?) of years! Sending Stay Safe Vibes and Irma Go Away Vibes as strongly as I possibly can!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful finish. Good looking quilt holders, too!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt. Hoping that Irma calms down or head out to sea, but that's increasingly looking unlikely. I have family in Davie and friends in Lantana, Venice, Winter Haven, Tallahassee, and Pensacola, so we've got the state covered and hope everyone stays safe. Will be thinking of you.

A stunning quilt!
ReplyDeleteHurray for that gorgeous finish!
ReplyDeleteStay safe. Will be thinking of you as the storm storms.
Congratulations ! what an undertaking this quilt was and such a spectacular finish! :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks fantastic! You and all of Florida are in my thoughts and prayers as Irma bears down. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteHope you are safe and sound there!
