School has been cancelled for Thursday and Friday. The hurricane, if it stays on the forecast path, should arrive on Monday. That leaves plenty of time to sit and stare at the weather channel. Good thing that I have plenty of hand quilting to keep me busy.
Honestly, I think that I will go and get in some machine sewing while the power is going strong. Sitting and waiting is not easy, especially knowing what is headed our way. They usually turn. Almost always. I'm hoping that this one will do that too. We have water and food. The cars have gas, the house is strong. The next update isn't due until 8. I'm sure I can get plenty of sewing done between now and then.
Nothing like hurricane anxiety to ruin your week! Having projects to keep you busy is a Good Thing. I hope she turns, too...but not to the west! Take care & be safe!
ReplyDeleteHope you all stay safe!
ReplyDeleteStay safe! I can't even imagine being in that kind of wind and rain.
ReplyDeleteI learned to sew on a machine during the remnants of a hurricane in Richmond, VA circa 1950. My mother was trying to take her mind off my newsboy brother who was out delivering papers in the rain. (Other brother and I had walked home from music lessons in it.)
ReplyDeleteLiving in these gulf states has it drawbacks, doesn't it. Luckily, here in Louisiana we don't get nearly as many storms as you Floridians. Growing up in New Orleans, every prepared house had an axe in the attic. Most people don't think about having to chop their way out of the roof when the water rises.
ReplyDeleteFrank was in cape canaveral on business once when a hurricane was bearing down. He recalls the difficulty having to find an earlier flight, and how rough the flight home was in the storm bands.
Stay safe, we will be thinking of all the people there in the path.
Oh sincerely hope you will be safe and that the storm will miss you... hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteBe safe -- I'm sure we all join you in the hope that Irma hooks out to sea!
ReplyDeleteI really hope it misses you! Be safe!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are prepared. My thoughts are with you and I hope it turns into a little sewing vacation.
ReplyDeleteStay Safe!! My thoughts are with you.
ReplyDeleteI'll be thinking of you and hoping for the best.
ReplyDeleteThe waiting is the worst! At least you have plenty of fabric to pet and stitch together. Worst case.... I have a poured cement house on the other side of the state...head on over!
ReplyDeleteBe safe! I've been thinking of you and hoping you avoid any damage or harm. Get lots of fun stuff done if you and focus. You are in our thoughts. We are dealing with fires here locally; too bad the east coast can't send some of that water to the west.
ReplyDeleteI grew up in England and the thought of a hurricane is mind boggling! Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteThinking of all in Irma's path. Be safe. We have a brother and sister-in-law in Florida and a couple of nephews. Keeping all in our prayers.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you and yours. Wishing you safety as you wait out the storm!
ReplyDeleteLet us know what city you are in :)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you are as prepared as you can be. Stay safe and good luck.
ReplyDeleteI hope all goes well for you and yours! Prayers for the entire area about to be hit by Irma!
ReplyDeleteStay safe
ReplyDeleteWhat big town are you near? I am curious as the weather guy here - Charlotte NC -was saying if it followed the model, we'd see the wind & the rain on Monday night/Tues am....of course it can all change in a blink.....Stay safe and hope all is good!!!!
ReplyDeleteHope you are in the dry zone. Hang in there.
ReplyDeleteHugs
think of Erma with every stick of the needle, that you are
ReplyDeleteputting a hole in her, (voodoo) You can take the wind out of her. LOL
Seriously, prayers for you and all who are in harms way.
Hope it passes by without problem. Stay safe! We will all be thinking about you!
ReplyDeleteI know that feeling, even if we never had a cat.5 here. Can't do anything else but waiting for the next weather forecast. Thinking of you all, and following the situation from the other side of the world.
ReplyDeleteHope it doesn't reach you. Stay alert.
ReplyDeleteStay safe and yes, might as well use the machine while the power holds up. I hope this isn't as wicked as they are predicting. It's time for a break from Mother Nature, don't you think? Thinking of you and praying for a safe and smooth outcome.
ReplyDeleteHope you are in the dry zone. Hang in there.

When we lived south of Houston, watching and waiting was the hardest thing. Do we board up the house, do we wait, do we leave, do we stay. I really came to hate hurricane season. I'm behind on my blog reading, but I hope there wasn't too much damage where you are at.
