Welcome to the quilters meet and greet.
On another year I framed the same blocks and alternated them with stars. Mai Tai Sunrise was the result.
Hi, I'm Angela and I am a scrap quilter. I've been a scrap quilter for as long as I can remember. Almost every quilt that I make is scrappy. I'm not sure where all the scraps come from as I never seem to make non scrappy quilts. I keep working to use up all my scraps, and while I use them all up, I just seem to keep making more.
Trying to be more systematic about using up scraps, I decided to start the Rainbow Scrap Challenge several years ago. By choosing one color each month on which to focus, the goal was to encourage more people to use more scraps.
I usually have several quilts going at any one time. I love to work with simple units which can be reused in different ways. These 9 patches were made each month for several years of the RSC. One year I set them on point with framed black and white corners. On another year I framed the same blocks and alternated them with stars. Mai Tai Sunrise was the result.
For the past several years, I have also designed blocks for a monthly quilt along. This one is my favorite so far. Different 6 inch blocks serve as the center for Sawtooth stars with alternating chain blocks.
I really enjoy this one too. It is just random 6 inch blocks, but it was lots of fun working to come up with new blocks and tutorials each month.
A special thanks to Benita for hosting this quilter's meet and greet. Be sure to visit her blog for more details.

Your quilts are all so cheerful and sunny! So many great ways to use those scraps, which do multiply independently, don't they?
ReplyDeleteI'm working on finishing up a star and chain quilt in between other projects. Thanks for the pattern.

ReplyDeleteYour blog is always so refreshing. The RSC is a yearly favorite. I hope to participate again in 2019.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilts. It could be great to see them all in a book with instructions! (Just saying)
ReplyDeleteYou truly are the scrap queen!( In a good way) I love your color of the month challenges, I just don't know when to stop!
ReplyDeleteAngela, I'll try again when I get home, but it seems like your prize link isn't working. See you Saturday at the RSC LINK PARTY!!
ReplyDeleteYou've got some beautiful scrappy quilts. The Rainbow Scrap Challenge has been such fun. I've lost count of how many years I've played along. Thank you for hosting it each year.
ReplyDeleteYou've shown so many beautiful rainbow quilts! You are living proof that it is possible if you just keep at it one color at a time, one month at a time!
ReplyDeleteYour quilts are so beautiful! Definitely inspiration for a person who loves rainbow and scrappy like me! Thanks for hosting the RSC, too. I really love participating!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing some of your rainbow quilts. I like the idea of doing this but have pretty bad follow through. On the other hand, in 2017 I made it through the whole year and made two nice baby quilts from the blocks. I think I might try again next year. Seeing blocks you've chosen and how you set them inspires me.
ReplyDeleteAngela, you are the queen of the rainbow quilts and the CEO of the RSC challenge. Your work is beautiful and inspiring. Where do these scraps come from anyways - a question that bewilders many quilters and keeps some of them awake at night, while colorful patterns make rainbows in their dreams.
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed seeing everyone's RSC quilts over the years. Will you be doing it again in 2019? If so, I am IN!! My scraps are in control, as in organized, but they aren't being used. I need the inspiration to use them up! It was a pleasure to meet you!
ReplyDeleteThese are so pretty! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLovely to meet you and your blog. Love your projects.
ReplyDeleteI love RSC, but I have more in process projects than completed ones. Your link to the prze drawing doesn't go to the right page.

Pleased to see you at the Meet and Greet. See you Saturday for the ScrapHappy LINK PARTY!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous quilts. I know what you mean about scraps. For some reason my scrap pile never changes size no matter how many quilts I make!
ReplyDeleteI love your scrappy quilts! Thanks for hosting the RSC, I'm so happy to be part of it ;)
ReplyDeleteScrappy + Rainbow is one of my favourite kinds of quilts, Angela!
ReplyDeleteThanks for being part of the Quilters Meet & Greet! <3
Beautiful quilts.
ReplyDeleteYou make scraps look incredibly beautiful in your quilts...love it!
ReplyDeleteWonderful quilts - and I agree - how do the scraps keep growing so much faster than we use them! But the quilts you have made are gorgeous !!!
ReplyDeleteI'm a scrappy gal too! Nice to meet you, visiting from the Meet and Greet.
ReplyDeleteSeems like the scraps just multiply, don't they? I open my scrap basket and I can almost swear it has grown higher than when I scrunched those scraps in there the last time. :) Always enough for another scrap quilt to get started on right away, and then some.
ReplyDeleteYour quilts are beautiful. I saw that you started a Dear Jane quilt and did a lot of work on it. Did you burn out, finish it, or are you going to finish it? I signed up for a BOM via mail for a blue Dear Jane. I was disgruntled with the additional hints that came with it and never started it. Thanks for participating in the hop and inspiring all of us.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed seeing your colorful quilts. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYou do an awesome job with scraps!! Your quilts are beautiful! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI think scrappy quilts are my favourites too. They make me think of the quilts that my grandmothers made when scraps were all they had to work with. Enjoyed my visit - thank you!
ReplyDeleteThe quilts you make with the scraps are wonderful. You do know that scraps multiply and that the more scraps you use the more you have!!! lol I love Irish Chain quilts and so Mai Tai Sunrise is a favorite.
ReplyDeleteScrappies are my favorites too. It's funny how those scraps keep multiplying. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI have a heap of scraps, and save every tiny piece of batik. They are always used up for the next applique project. Your way is lovely, and they go together so well
ReplyDeleteOh I really really love your work!! Scrappy and rainbow!!! Totally wonderful, I'll stop gushing, sorry, I particularly like the random 6" blocks, so clever and effective in the spectrum! So nice to meet you!
