It is red week number 2 already! I hope you are all getting a chance to dig in and play with your scraps. I have worked my way through the 1.5 inch collection already so today I will tackle the 2 inch strips. Blackford's Beauty is my plan for these guys. I've been saving the solids specifically to unify the star points. Looking forward to seeing what scraphapiness everyone else is up to. This is the awkward time of the year when I try NOT to start every new project I see on someone else's blog.
As far as local news, friends have been sending me this link to an article about our little corner of Florida. Covid is in full swing here, hoping for a quick spike on this one as the numbers are just unimaginably high. I'm starting to run in to a lot of people having their second case. I am in the minority so far having not been pulled on my planning to cover for sick teachers without subs. I think they have sympathy for the batch that had Covid over the break as we aren't all fully functional again. Thankfully it was a short week though and I have a weekend to rest and recharge before heading into the battle zone again.
Right there with you on trying not to start everything I see. I love seeing all the great ideas but boy, is willpower difficult!
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem- wanting to start every new thing I see= blackford beauty is a great block
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear the school is going easy on you (for the time being!) Enjoy your weekend, Angela. Happy RED stitching!!
ReplyDeleteI've been following the Covid surge maps that the NY Times always has and noticed that Covid bumped up again in Florida as it has all around the country. I'm so sorry it continues to affect schools and teachers so very negatively. Thinking of you and my teacher friends here in Colorado! Hope you get some time to play in your red scraps this weekend!
ReplyDeleteOh my - I read the article you linked. I must admit that it frightens me to see more evidence of political hatred in this country. Hugs to you and to your colleagues in every school in this country who are doing their best to educate the children in the face of such a health crisis and political crisis. We've had similar protests here against our school board members over masking.
ReplyDeleteI finally have the layout for my RSC21 quit, laying all the rows in color sections wasnt working but when I turned them on the diagonal it was magic lol for 2022 the plan is to decide on the block, size & how many needed, hopefully this will cut down on being overwhelmed
ReplyDeleteIt is so hard to not start a million new projects - Stand strong!! haha ( or that should be my mantra!)
ReplyDeleteGlad they are not pulling you into sub duty - we have a lot of schools going back to online for 2 weeks... crazy
Stay safe!
Interesting article. My family would love for us to move back to Florida when we retire, but I'm not so sure!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry you're all having such a rough time with this terrible virus. Hang in there! Your quilt starts are inspiring. I love the bullseye blocks.
ReplyDeleteOh I hope you don't get pulled very often to cover for teachers that couldn't get subs. There's a huge sub shortage for sure. Our local school districts have upped the pay big time this year for subs. Some districts here are paying $200/day. I wasn't going to go back to work because our son is still a remote learner at home. It is just too tempting to pass up that kind of easy money. I am only going in for half of a day for the $100. It seems that when I do go in they are treating the subs much differently this year. They are so happy to see us and everyone has been so nice! It's not that most weren't nice before Covid, it's just that they go out of their way to say hi and see if we need anything.
ReplyDeleteMe too... I want to start sewing the pretty blocks that others are making and start a bazillion new projects!
ReplyDeleteIt's so exciting I can't even focus here!
I'm sorry to hear about what is going on in your neck of the woods. Covid is bad here too in Ontario and Quebec. We are back to online school again which is safer but so hard on the teachers and parents and kids... well it's hard on everyone I suppose.
I'll just be hanging out in my sewing room playing with scraps and listening to music!
Love doing this every year! I'm making 6" pineapples this year.
ReplyDeleteYou've picked some great projects for the RSC this year. I'm hoping to finish up some of my older RSC projects so I can start a few new one's next year. Happy stitching!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! I hope that Covid surges will soon become a faded memory. Stay well.
ReplyDeleteI’m really looking forward to purging my scraps. It’s been a long time since I did all twelve months of the challenge and I’m determined to do it this year. Thanks for all your hard work.
ReplyDeleteI cant seem to get to load my photo on Linky ????
