Anna is obviously too old for a playdate. Instead she invited a friend over for an afternoon of crafting. In the morning we went to get some fabric and supplies. Not that I don't have fabric, but she wanted to pick out her own of course.
Look how cute her bag turned out! She used a pattern from Sewmamma sew which can be found here. It is nicely insulated with a cute drawstring lining. The canvas on the outside is cut to 13 by 12 inches. Sounds like just the right size to use up an orphan quilt block don't you think? I can definitely see taking this one to the next level.

Great projects for young girls, and the turned out wonderfully.
Cute bags and quilters/sewers in training. I am definitely going to try this pattern. Last year I made bags for the ladies at a nursing home. Wanted to do something different this year and this would be perfect with the drawstring at the top. Thank you and your daughter for sharing.
CUTE bags! Love the drawstring lining. Two very talented ladies. I could see those two young ladies making all kinds of things. You rock, Mom.
Personally, I may have to give this pattern a try.
Those bags are adorable and such a great project for girls her age. I'm thinking it would be a great knitting bag too - the drawstring would keep the yarn in the bag :*)
Lovely bags and great choice of fabric.
Really cute bags! I so regret not having sew days with my daughter when she was young. I'm also trolling to see what August's color is going to be...
Yep, that's a great project for orphan blocks and the girls did a great job on theirs! I'm also wondering what the color of the month is!!! The suspense is killing us......
Great job by the girls! Hmmmmm no hints on color for August yet. Bummer. I even get to SEW this Saturday without kids!! Yippee!
Excellent projects!!!!
Goodness; between this post, and the schoolhouse pic for the new August color.... I can't help but think that you must be nearing teacher-inservice/workdays for school. Are you ready to start thinking about that yet?
Where has the summer gone?
Very cute bag. You are so lucky she wants to sew, my 14 year old DD refuses to play with fabric. On the other hand, she is doing a really good job of learning to cook.
Cute, cute, cute! Nice job girls!
