ScrapHappy Saturday - Home Again

 

We had fun and got some work done in Virginia last week, but now it is back home again to a different kind of work.  

The sun is rising later with daylight saving, but I try to peek at it on the drive to work.   Not much sewing time this week with Kurt out of town and evening meetings for me, but hopefully I can make up for lost time this weekend.  There is always laundry and the house could use some love, but my green scraps are sadly calling me for some attention.   

ScrapHappy Saturday - Spring Green

I really thought that we would be seeing lots of greens for spring in Virginia this week. It is still quite chilly most days though and we instead saw a spring snow! We are all out as soon as it warms up each day though. For the most part we have been cleaning up. We have a new UTV to help in the hauling of heavy things and have been having lots of fun driving around the property in circles grabbing up mulch, logs or abandoned appliances from years gone by.  We will rent a dumpster and have it all hauled away at once this summer.   Anna has come up for the weekend and is hoping to plant something in the garden.   No sewing right now, but I am hoping to enjoy the greens that you all have to share.  

ScrapHappy Saturday - Spring Break Edition

 Ah, for the love of vacations!  So nice to have a nice change of pace to look forward to.  Long happy days of nothing await.  I hope you have great green blocks to share.  Misterlinky is below.  

Mini Block Mani

 

I got a bit behind in the Mini Mania blocks last month.  I thought that February would be calm in the new job, but it didn't work out that way.  Still lots of lovely weekends to enjoy though and I am putting together so many tiny happy bits of fabric today.  I am getting a haircut this morning and then Anna is coming home for spring break!  She really wants to see the boyfriend more than us, but as she wasn't planning on coming home at all, it is still a win.  Next week is spring break for the rest of us.  I am very much looking forward to a change of scenery. It is hard to argue with the 70 and balmy ocean breeze, but working outside instead of on the computer will be refreshing.  Check out the mini mania page for block names and pattern sources if you are interested.

Last Pink Saturday

Today is the last Saturday to finish up pinks! Mine are still barely started, but I will jump back in anyway after a busy month. Sydney is coming home for the weekend, but I think she is more interested in the beach than in spending time with Mom and Dad.  I think I will start with turning these 2 inch strips into some plus blocks and then see where it goes from there.   

ScrapHappy Saturday - Slowly on Pink

 I did sorting and organizing of pink scraps last weekend, but not a lot of sewing.  I was caught up with my civics class for Florida teachers instead which is worth $3,000 in my paycheck.   I must catch up on blocks today though, so the actual and true thoughts of the founding fathers will be on hold for a bit.   Teaching in Florida continues to be spicy, as apparently all of us teachers are busy indoctrinating children, making them gay and tricking them into reading pornography.  Who knew that schools would be the new political battleground?  Never would have guessed that.

ScrapHappy Saturday Pink Play Day

Not a lot of change on the wall since last week.  I didn't expect to get much done this week.  If you look closely, there is one tiny new pink block.  

I was in Ft. Lauderdale on a college visit for three days, came back to piles of work and had a college fair on Thursday night.   Hopefully I can make up for the lack of progress today though as everything looks wide open.  I am working on a civics literacy class for teachers, but there should still be plenty of time to dig into more pink scraps.   Kurt was also traveling this week, so it is good to both be home again together at last.

ScrapHappy Saturday - Pops of Pink

I hope you have started to clear out the last of the blues and dig into pinks. I have a lot of pink scraps to work with right now.  It is cold and windy here, so a nice pop of a happy color is welcome right about now. I've got a few pink blocks ready.   Looking forward to a few more today though.  

It has been a wild week at work.  February has lots of evening events scheduled, those always make for a long day.   Monday there was a wellness workshop for mentors and new teachers and Thursday was a parent meeting for dual enrollment.   Kurt was out of town for conference, so his week was also rush rush.  It will be nice to have a quiet day today!  I am out of town for another college visit after that and then it is more evening events.  College fairs, AP night and our annual Junior Symposium are all still on the horizon.
