And Sew Ends the Charade

We've been in this house for 11 years now, all of that time pretending that the sewing studio was really a guest bedroom.  Madly picking everything up when guests arrived, and then returning it to its studio state as soon as the door shut behind them.  I was pretty sure that the quilting machine would fit in its extended state if we just moved the bed.
Then the table would go where the Handi-Quilter used to live.  Looks like there is room next to the sewing machine table for a cutting/ironing station.  So now I just have to put everything back.  Maybe a little bit of cleaning and organization at the same time?  Or maybe a bit of binding stitching instead.  I am all tired out!

Buy a sofa bed for the living room and your guest room will be ready whenever you need it! That's what I did and it works great. Plus people don't stay too long because it's the living room. :)

bundle the kids together for when company comes?! but if I remember correctly, you already have a bunch of kids, so that may not work?
I'm fortunate to have my own studio/room which is HUGE. when company comes I move my oldest daughter out of her room, as she has our old king bed, she can bunk with her brother or other sisters, they love it!

I finally have a permanent sewing room - oldest son has moved out permanently. It will happen....

Ha, we're getting ready to do something similar. The guest bed has had nothing but laundry on it for fifteen months. So it's becoming the older child's bed, the younger is getting the bunk beds, and we're reclaiming the guest room for ourselves. When we have guests, the kids get the bunk beds together. So obvious, but never actually happened!

Well, you could always hand them a list of hotel rooms in the area ;). The sewing room looks great.

I have a dedicated sewing room. Ha1 Ha! I laugh because it is the center of my house and it is always in disarray (as sewing rooms are want to be) It drives my daughter absolutely bonkers because she is obsessively clean! AND since we "just" moved in (11 months ago) It isn't quite organized the way it should be.
We do have a sofa bed in the living room. And yes, company never overstays their welcome.

Congratulations - you do deserve a designated space for you to work in. I am so glad you could work out all of the details to make it happen.

I think you should take a rest, put your feet up and do some hand stitching!

It will really increase your creativity to have a permanent spot for your sewing! It's looking good in there!

Having a dedicated place to sew is heaven. But it doesn't work out for all of us. Hope you can get some rest before the Holiday.

Fabulous! I've been thinking to do the same thing since I have the same situation. As of now my husband attaches a special 'table' to the wall OVER the bed. But there is no way my quilting frame will fit in there!

It's getting there. Just suit yourself...

That's wonderful for you!! But wait until all of the children move out. Mine did, so I now have my sewing room in one of the bedrooms, the fabric room (which does double duty as a guest room and I think my guests are lucky to be able to sleep surrounded by plastic totes full of colorful fabric!!) and the downstairs room which is the "longarm" room. I'm noticing now that some of the extra rolls of batting, and pillow forms are starting to creep out of the longarm room at night and fill up another room in the basement. Guess I'll call that the sewing supplies room. LOL

The living room floor/couch works perfectly fine for those young teenagers of yours :) When a guest comes, one of the KIDS' rooms can be frantically cleaned (by them, of course) for your guests ;)

Good for you.
