Red

In case you missed my subtle hints, the color for February will be red.  I put away all my blue this afternoon and scrounged around for new scraps.  I was surprised at how much I came up with.  I thought red was a light color for me.  Ideas are percolating, but I'm seeing some little nine patches with the 1.5 inch strips and maybe a nice checkerboard with the 2 inch strips.  I don't think red has quite the same range as blue since I've pulled all the pink for another month.  I wonder why light blue is still blue but light red is considered to be another color?  I'll need an new idea for the 2.5 inch strips, but I'm thinking that the 3.5 inch strips want to be kaleidoscope blocks.  There will be some crumb hearts if I can make it work -- maybe raw edge or maybe reverse applique?
Anna came home from school sick today, so I'm getting some sub plans ready just in case she hasn't perked up by morning.  The kids all have a special talent for getting sick only when Dad is out of town.  I wonder how they manage that?

Best wishes to Anna, but on the up side if she's home sick that's an extra day off for you! I have no idea how much red I have, but I hope it's not as much as the blue. I'm still coming up with blue scraps from odd corners.

Hope Anna gets well soon, I think I have plenty of reds after making my red and white quilt last month so I'm off to hunt them all out :)

Hope Anna feels better soon too. I have pulled out my reds - this month I am going to try to remember to take a before photo of the red scrap stash and another at the end of the month - hope there is a difference in quantity! getting RED-y to sew blushing scraps!
Happy stitching!

Is there a flickr group so we can all post our photos of what we made during the rainbow scrap challenge?

I hope Anna feels better soon. So red is the scrap color this month, sounds like fun. Love the new look of your blog.

I don't think I have a lot of red scraps so this month may be a "real challenge".

Since I din't find your blog until about a week ago, I havn't had a chance to sort my scraps yet into color, I've always sorted mine into sizes instead. I'll start picking out the reds today! Hope Anna feels better-it's sure no fun having someone sick in the house.

Red is the smallest scrap pile I have I think - maybe that'll make it easier on me though. This month is turning out to be really busy with a few commissions.

I will have to do some heart themed stuff!

Hope your daughter feels better soon. I don't use a whole lot of red. This is going to really challenge me. Thanks for doing this challenge.

Kids do seem to have a knack for getting sick or into trouble when you are fying solo as a parent, don't they? My 5 were no exception. Hope she feels better soon! I'm just so-so on red scraps, not a ton of them like the blue. I'm scratching my head to come up with "what to make", but I'll manage, LOL. Hugs, Finn

I can't wait to start thinking red ... as soon as I finish up a scrappy blue UFO that seemed destined to be finally finished last month--I may miss the January deadline by a few days but a finished UFO is still a good thing ;-)

I don't know how to link one of my posts but I actually worked on pink scraps today-that is sort of red. Maybe I will do red tomorrow since we have a snow day! Here is my pink post. http://simplifyandquilt.blogspot.com/2011/02/valentines-and-pink-scraps.html

I created a post that will pop up tomorrow showing my small bowlful of red fabric. I may have to go into my closet and choose some fat quarters that I'm not in love with and use those too.

Loving the challenge so far!

Hi everyone, I've posted pics of some of my red scraps, still have a few to sort through. And, yesterday I posted a pic of some piles of red squares and bricks I cut to get started on my Red project!

I have very little red but I'll be pulling that out. I just finished my little red sampler from a few years ago and posted it...Thanks for hosting this and pushing us to work on certain colors....This really helped me finish this up. Now, I'll see what other reds are left over.
