9 Carat Diamond Flimsy

The 9 Carat Diamond Flimsy is done!  1 inner striped border along with a diamond print border.  This is the third quilt I've made with leader and ender nine patches.  I wonder what pattern will come next?  I think I'll shift to 16 patches for a bit first, the 2.5 in squares have started to pile up.  It is much fun to see what scraps can turn into with a little love.  Head over to Oh Scrap! to check out other scrap busting creations.
I could not resist this fabric when I found it in the clearance bin.  It says shine like a diamond.  Seemed just too perfect for this quilt.
I should have bought just a bit more though.  I had to toss in a random square of black fabric to stretch it all out.  I guess I could have worked out the math ahead of time, but it all works out one way or another in the end.
I've folded it all up for now, but it is ready the next time I get an urge to quilt.  For now I have essays calling my name.  The down side of having more AP students this year is more essays to grade.  40 students times 4 essays each on the last test.  I'd better get busy!
I ran this morning, but fortunately it was a fall back week of only 3 miles.  While going out for a morning jog on Thursday I tripped on the sidewalk and took quite a tumble.  What can I say, I've got grace and skill!  Knee, hand and shoulder will all heal, and it was easy  to have a new screen installed on my phone.  Bending and kneeling to finish up the borders and backing was quite a trick though.  Those essays are sounding better all the time.

So sorry to hear about your tumble. Glad it was not worse. Now you can rest your body while your brain is going at top speed. BTW, my granddaughter took a tour of Ivy Leagues. She would love Harvard because they have her specialty in science and has relatives in Boston. She is zooming through AP classes, is a junior and loves drama. How time flies!

The quilt is gorgeous! Great job. I avoid running, it's bad for my health!! LOL. A stationary bike is about my speed.

Your 9 Carat Diamonds quilt is looking great, and I don't think you could have found a more perfect backing! I'm so sorry you fell while running, though. That is not fun. Thank goodness nothing is broken! Take care, and have fun grading those essays! 😜

Great backing fabric...it fits right in with the top. I was also working on my rainbow quilt.

What a perfect backing you found! Those nine-patch jewels just sparkle on your quilt.
And OW! Grading essays is a much safer way to spend your non-quilting time!

That turned out so pretty. I rally like the striped inner border. So sorry about your fall. Grading papers will be a good way to "rest!"

Oh gosh I understand the skill for taking a tumble I have that skill too, I fell down the back steps two weeks ago and am still covered in bruises! Hope you are starting to feel a little less sore.

Sorry to hear about your tumble, dear. It's a long way down for us adults.
