New Month -- New Color

I am so sad to say goodbye to aqua.  Still, it is hard to get enough of orange.  Please don't be afraid.  Orange is such a happy color.  I know that some people have issues.  Here at the rainbow scrap challenge though, we like to give every color a chance.

On the new house front, Kurt decided that the wood floors needed to be refinished.  I will admit that they were in pretty rough shape.  We've never refinished floors though.
We used many sanding machines over two weekends.  The floors are all stripped now and waiting patiently for varnish.  Hopefully they will end up better than they started, though I am not convinced.  My back may never forgive me for all those hours of bending and squatting.
I did finish painting the kitchen though!  Everything in the house is torn apart now and half finished, which is starting to make me bonkers.  Kind of like that feeling of having too many UFOs and not  making any visible progress.  So I picked on project and crossed it off the list.  We still need to do back-splashes, but at least everything is functional.

I love orange, and already bought some fat quarter oranges for RSC last month.

All that hard work WILL pay off - totally understand the bonkers feeling. Our master bath is under renovation (week two of likely three before we can move back in - what with tile, paint, wallpaper, etc. etc. etc.). Hang in there!!! (LOVE orange in quilts)

All that hard work will definitely pay off and you should be proud that you did it yourself. I do understand the frustration while you are going through it though. I have a big list of things to do and am trying to do them one at a time to avoid too many house UFOs, but that does tend to draw out the process too.

I can't wait to play with orange fabrics. And your house is coming along very nicely. Bet you can't wait for it to be all done.

Noticed you had changed the color in your header so I'm headed down to start cutting some orange. Your kitchen is much improved with the lighter color. Y'all are brave to tackle the floors on your own!

Your floor sanding reminds me of one house we had, an older one. The sander did not work on the uneven wider floorboards, so I had to do every single board in living room and dining room by hand. At least I could sit down.

Hurray for orange! I've been looking forward to it!
The floors will be worth it, but it's hard to believe it while you're actually in the process! (Eventually it DOES get finished - hang in there!)

Yippee for Vitamin C!
Your house projects are really paying off. (We can't do ANY of that work ourselves so I admire you.)

You just can’t have a rainbow without orange!

I think orange is a fun color and use it often, adds punch to scrappy quilts. We had the hardwood floors in our 100 yr-old house refinished about 12 years ago We hired someone, but it was a pain removing furniture and cleaning up the dust. You'll be glad you took care of it now instead of needing to do it later.

The new kitchen looks great! Nice and bright. Good luck finishing the floors!

I find I don’t have many orange scraps. That’s okay, as May is insane around here anyhow.

Good luck with the floors and renos. May it all go better than you fear!

The house is coming along great. I remember redoing floors after pulling up carpets in my first house... but I hired it out =) It came out beautiful... Yours will too. Time to pull the orange hexagons out.

I don’t envy you the sanding, but hopefully it will all be well worth it. The kitchen looks so much brighter and fresher now with the new paint. And let me add to the chorus of YAYs for orange!! can’t wait to dive in!

Interesting. I've been in my new house for two years now and still haven't done anything about the cabbage rose wallpaper in the kitchen, the rose carpet in the backrooms etc. etc. etc. Of course that is combined with lots of UFOs and not making any visible progress... but I do have my cats to blame.

And yes, I'm happy for orange, my favorite neutral.
