ScrapHappy Saturday - A Tale of Two Greens

Green is one of those colors that has LOTS of shades.  Hopefully you have used up a big chunk of the darks (evergreen, forest, emerald).  This month we will be focusing on the light and brights (sage, lime,  kiwi).  So I started by pulling out my green fabrics and doing a quick sort.  How about y'all?  Any thoughts on light green yet?
With the start of the new month, we will also celebrate with a fabric giveaway.  To enter this month, leave a comment with the name of your favorite quilt block ever.   I will draw on Monday for the winner of the lovely hand dyed fabric collection from Vicki Welsh.  I still need a snail mail address from last month's winner, Marsha Cooper, who is a no-reply blogger.  Please contact me directly at angela(dot)feldbush(at)yahoo(dot)com with your mailing address.

It would be a tie between friendship star and the traditional nine patch.

My favourite is Friendship Star, but I like all the star blocks I've ever made.

I like star blocks. At the moment I have done a lot with WONKY stars

Well, mine is an obvious choice...I'm a huge fan of the churn dash! :)

I think my favorite overall block is the nine patch. I love it's simplicity! But I am loving my pickledish blocks!

Too many blocks....... I'm going to go with log cabin - classic and simple but oh so versatile.

I have to go with the Garlic Knot. Baby Nines would be a close second. Thanks for revisiting green. I have a ton of green.

I agree with Carla. My favorite block is Carla's Pickle dish. (I've never made it myself...)

I think my all time favorite quilt blocks are string blocks of all kinds. Paper pieced, wonky, small, large, scrappy, colorful, one color family, doesn't really matter. String blocks are versatile and fun to make.

My favorite block is star blocks especially the Ohio star.

Each new block I make seems to be my fav.

Overall - I guess I would say Double Wedding Ring or Kaleidoscope.

Wow, that is a tough question. I have to go with a traditional - Churn Dash.

My all-time favorite is string blocks . . .

As far as revisiting green - I used my yellow-green and green-yellow tones the first time around (light, medium, and dark) so this month I'll focus on the blue-green shades. Fabrics pulled from resource boxes ... should have something to show by next Saturday.

I like star blocks, and Ohio stars are my favorite. They're just so darned cheerful. I'm seriously wanting some of those green scraps of yours!

I sent you an email!
In case I didn't get it right, mine is marsha.seiberling@gmail.com.

Since I missed green the first time is it alright if I work with any shade of green?

Thanks!
Marsha

I've always loved the Drunkard's Path. So many other names for it because there are so many ways to set it.
Of course, I also love the 17+ mentioned above, and a raft of others.
Thanks for the chance.
Hugs

I'm in love with slab blocks. I never get tired of them and each one is so different!

Star blocks in general, LeMoyne Stars in particular!

For some reason I love dresdons and square-in-a-square blocks.

I like the Greek Cross. You don't see it very often but it is a simple block which looks lovely made up in a quilt. Also love stars, probably Ohio Star would be my choice if pressed.

After thinking about it a bit, I realized there is no one favorite block on my list. There are many I'm not fond of, but no one that is my absolute favorite.

Star blocks are probably my favorite blocks, although I am slightly obsessed with Carrie Nation blocks right now.

I have lots of light green to use and hope I make a nice dent this month!

How do you pick just 1 favorite in a library of so many great ones. I do like the look of many of the star blocks, but my favorite would have to be the log cabin -- because of the endless ways it can be set in a quilt and the many types of log cabin styles of off center, traditional, diamonds, etc. Thanks much for asking.

I have been digging through leftover blocks from old projects, and I seem to have tons of nine-patches. Easy to make, but you can create great designs depending on your fabric choices and how you set them together. Runner-up would be bowties.

I have a start on my green hexies! If I work on them a little each evening plus at my 2 stitch groups this month I do hope to get close to getting all 100 that I have papers pinned to done!

Bonnie said...

How do you pick one? I really like chinky churn dash...I'm working on my second quilt with that block. But, oh pinwheels call my name too.

Hum, perhaps I didn't read directions well with the last green. I had a lot of those bright greens in the block I made. I think I'll do this one in the darker colors with just a few brights in....
