April Color Annoucement

The color for April will be purple.  These beautiful hand dyed fabrics from Vicki Welsh make me think of irises and crocuses of spring.  I used to look forward to them as the first sign of spring when we lived up north.  Spring was a short weekend leading to swelter here in Florida, but I enjoy the thought of seasons if not the reality.  So pull out ALL your purples.  from lightest lavender, to darkest violet, let them all come out to play this month.  If you would like to be entered into the drawing to win this package of hand dyed fabrics, just leave a comment on this post.  Just for fun, tell me the name and date of the last quilt you finished.

Purple was the colour of my wedding. I think that's the last time I saw purple lol because there is none in my scraps. I'll dig in the stash. I'm sure I have some.

Completely finished - the binding on the RSC 2014 challenge was finally completed sometime in February. Now to finish up yellow to pull out purple.

I finished a quilt-as-you-go quilt for a friend about 2 weeks ago.
Time to go see what purple scraps I can dig out!

I think I have less purple than I did yellow. I may actually have to buy some fabric for this one! We'll see.

The last quilt I finished was the quilt guild raffle quilt, "Dazzling in Red"...I sewed the binding and hanging sleeve on in Feb 2015. Of my own projects, well, I finished one in in May 2014. I LOVE purple :)

I am just putting the last few stitches in the binding on 'Jubilee' (named for the fabric line used - Jubilee by Bunny Hill). It is the newest charm pattern with FatQuarter Shop and went together so quickly - I have a baby quilt that will be waiting on the shelf.

I need to get some sewing done. I have gotten a lot of cutting done but I am behind on the sewing and blogging. I am having fun with Vickie's hand dyes.

February 9, I finished "January at the Beach!"

I've begun to pull my purples and find the scraps are slim pickings.

I just finished 2 - one was pile of fabrics 2013 skill builder (my first QAYG) and one of my scrap quilts from last year - a pineapple block pattern. Loving the purple!! KaliaContiki@gmail.com

Oh great--I don't have much purple in my stash except as a secondary color in printed fabric. Hugs, Julierose

Purple isn't a color I use a lot of. My dd uses it lots. Because it is her favorite color. I can't remember the last time I finished a quilt completely. It has been awhile.

Looking forward to purple! I finished a yellow and pink baby quilt on March 15, and will be completing my next quilt, bear appliques, today or tomorrow.

March 23, I finished Bonnie Hunter's Mystery Quilt "Grand Illusion" which I started the day after Thanksgiving. I made it larger than the original pattern so it's 106 x 106. Today, I'm preparing the back and will take it to the quilter tomorrow. What a relief!

Purple is a pretty color. I look forward to finding them in my scraps. The last quilt II finished was March 22 and giving as a birthday gift on March 22. Nothing like finishing it just barely on time.

Morning Star and Friends was the last completed quilt. It was a Christmas gift(2014) for my Mother-in-law that wasn't completed until late January(2015). She liked it. I know what you mean by a weekend of Spring. I live in south Louisiana.

Ready to play with purple - I've already been sorting through the scraps! My most recent finished quilt was Paisley Parade on February 16, 2015!

Finished? as in completely finished? I finished a version of a Log
Cabin in February. I've been working on mostly small projects since then. Purple will be a challenge, but I actually need a purple baby quilt, so i'll come up with something!

My last quilt was finished in early March this year. It was a crib size Happy Scrappy Houses, a pattern from Bonnie Hunter at quiltville.com I made 12 I spy houses using fabric for every month of the year. It was crib size and donated to charity that has helpled our family for a fundraiser. Haven't heard what it brought.

I love purple! This will be fun. I finished the top for the Elephant Parade on Tuesday and the top for the Irish Chain Pinwheel on Friday. Still need to quilt them -- April projects for sure.

Edith said...

Looking forward to purple. Finished? The last top I finished was a plaid exchange quilt, eighty plaid eight inch squares, about two weeks ago. Finished as in quilting - I'm a long-arm quilter so my quilts are always at the bottom of the list. I did finish a baby mile-a-minute in blue around the beginning of November.

Terri said...

The last quilt finished was the pink, lime green and white Hugs and Kisses for my youngest grandgirl's first birthday in early February this year.
Thanks for a chance.

Purple is a great color for April. I've only done parts of quilts recently but some of them have been finished as I've donated the tops to my guild's philanthropy group so someone else will quilt it, and then someone else binds it.

Kat Scribner said...

I dont have alot of purple either, but I'm learning that it makes a great spash of color in any quilt. My last quilt was finished last Wednesday, Mar 25th, a quick strippy backed with comfy fleece, made to donate to our quilt club charity missions. I blogged about it today.

I just finished repairing a baby quilt for my boyfriends sister in law. I repaired the top then had to replace the batting and backing. Almost like I made it! I did just finish my daughters tshirt quilt from her dads tshirts and got it to the quilter last week. I won't get that back til May. An almost finish there.
