With just one more day of vacation before the big back to school day tomorrow, there was time to work on just one more project. There were two bags of postage stamp stars in the bin. This one had a note letting me know the setting, and that there were cornerstones in the bag, but that it needed sashing.
Sure enough, this is what it looked like coming out of the bag.
So the afternoon was spent cutting out sashing strips while listening to more Grey's Anatomy. I've been gravitating toward gray accents for rainbow quilts lately. The top is about half sewn, but there is still time. Texts and e-mails are starting to come in as everyone is shifting gears back to school mode again. Deep breath, here we go again.

I convinced myself yesterday that you would pick dark blue for this month and made a few blue string blocks, ha ha! Oh well, that just means I get to make orange ones today. Since I love making them, I can totally handle that :)
I've learned to love orange because of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge! Thanks for the encouragement, Angela!
What a great look! It will be an awesome top.
Orange! Hurray! My favorite toy!
Orange doesn't bother me at all. In fact there really isn't any color I don't like. I still have to finish a couple red blocks, though, as we were away for 9 days and I fell behind.

I love, love, love orange.
Yay orange!!!! My mom has a friend who HATES orange (I'm not sure that's strong enough emphasis there!), so every time I use orange in a quilt (she's a quilter too), I smile because Julie would be so angry with me! But she lives far enough away from me that she can't do anything about it until it's far too late! I love ALL the colors, but orange is near the top of the list!
This is okay with me. I have learned to like orange even though the stash is kind of weak.
YES!!! Orange. :o))
Best of luck on the coming school year!
Yay for another finished top! It turned out great. Can't believe it's time for school to start again. Best wishes for a good start!
Yippee I love orange!
Your star quilt is beautiful... I think I need to revisit grey as a sashing fabric for RSC quilts!
Leaving a note with your unfinished project is a great idea. I’ve started adding masking tape with yardage measurements on my fabrics, which saves so much time and frustration. Thanks for the orange, so nice and summery.
I love orange! But where did July go? I still have to make some red stuff.
As Louise, I assume it would be dark blue this month 😉. I'm ok with orange, but too bad I'm on holiday far from home and my sewing machine 🌊 ! Blue blocks will be for later! 😎 Good luck for back to school tomorrow.
I don't have a problem with Orange.. it's a close relative of Yellow, right? and I LOVE Yellow. Unfortunately for this challenge, I don't have a lot of Orange scraps in my stash and since I have to do four of Elizabeth Hartman's foxes with them, I bought a couple of fqs yesterday to augment what little I have.
I never used orange before the RSC. Thanks for opening my eyes to how the use of orange really makes a quilt sing. I too have been using the grey lately.... Great job on one last quilt top finish before the school chaos begins. Lets hope we don't get a hurricane again where you get all those tops finished.... well, just not the hurricane - you can finish the tops! Thanks for being an awesome and inspiring teacher.
Fun! I don't have much orange...may have to cut into yardage
Orange is such a happy color!
I love using orange in my RSC projects! Your Postage Stamp Stars are fantastic! I also like using grey with the rainbow of colors.
I am partial to fall, so I like orange. I don't have much for scraps though. I do have a bit of yardage, that leans toward the apricot...so you may see some interesting "slab blocks"!! I like your use of gray with rainbow blocks. Looking forward to seeing the postage stamp stars done. How big are the inside squares of each star, 1 1/2 or 2"? Just curious!
I really like the orange-reds and red-oranges, so have a lot of those in my stash. I'm not so found of the yellow oranges, but have a few of those too. Wow, already onto quilt number 3! Hope you get lots done before you have to go back tomorrow.
