Kayaking

The girls have been at Surf and Art camp this week.  Today was a family Kayaking trip.  Kurt got home from San Diego on the red eye at 7 this morning and was ready to head out again by 8:30.  He is a bit tired right now.
The girls shared a kayak with Kurt while I had Ryan.
We toured the Banana River which is part of the Indian River Lagoon, our local estuary where we saw a great assortment of the 4,300 species represented in our local waterways.  From all 3 types of mangroves and two types of herons to horseshoe crabs and stingrays.
The manatees were the highlight of the day.  A huge mating group frolicked at the end of an outlet while a mom hung out with her new baby along the waters edge.  I'm not sure if you can see it, but the gray bump near the shore is the back of the mom.  As we were heading out from our Manatee encounter, we spotted a dolphin bobbing up and down between the docks.  The kids really enjoyed the trip and came home sunburned and worn out.
