School Night Relaxation

I saw a link to an article today about coloring becoming increasingly popular among adults.  The last time I popped into Michaels to pick up some craft supplies for Sydney, there was a big, tempting display of grown-up coloring books by the front door.  Amazon has lots of fun coloring books available.
So tonight I sat down with my quilt notebook and some colored pencils and played.  I've been thinking about what I want to do for next year's Rainbow Scrap Challenge.  I thought about a strippy month by month.  Then I thought it would be fun to do a star sampler with different sizes of blocks.  There is still plenty of time to decide, but it was an an enjoyable way to spend an evening.
Look what came in the mail today!  My Farmer's Wife 1930s sampler book has finally arrived.  Maybe this weekend I will make a few more blocks.

I love the idea of a rainbow of stars in a variety of sizes. It would be a very unique quilt.

I love to color to this day! I am the last one on the page when the grands want to color with me. Very relaxing!

There are tons of free coloring pages on-line.... and some are pretty intricate. Coloring is very relaxing =) I had paper and pencil out last night to plan the dresden plates setting..... I have 13 - perfect for an on point setting. Just need to calculate the background and then start attaching the plates to the background. Maybe I can have this RSC top finished this year (not quilted, just the top!)

Congrats! on having an evening to play. Your "playtime design" is not without merit. Whatever you come up with... I'll be there to play along in some fashion!

What a coincidence! I was thinking of putting a border of flying geese around this years project - and there you have one for next year - maybe great minds think alike LOL

Love coloring - pencils, markers, crayons - all of them.

Fun idea to have multisize star blocks!

I like just about anything with star blocks in it. Your layout looks like fun. Hard to believe we are already half way through October!

Oh, that Farmer's Wife will suck you in! I've really enjoyed reading each blogger's take on the letter with each block. Enjoy your weekend.

My kids are always stealing my colored pencils and giving me a hard time - but I love coloring!
