After the Long Weekend

I thought that I might get this top finished up over the long weekend.  It is SO close though!   I will be able to polish it off as soon as there is an evening at home.  I think that Sydney has 3 lacrosse games this week though, so that might not be soon.

We went on a family hike yesterday, and the weather was glorious!   Lots of flowers and bees and gators splashing in the distance. I keep thinking that it will be too hot soon, but we keep having these lovely cold snaps of 60 degree days.  Perfect hiking weather!  We also had ham for lunch in honor of Easter Sunday, so there will be ham sandwiches to enjoy all week.

Everyone is eligible for be vaccinated in Florida now and lots of people are getting appointments.  I see a vaccinated return to normalcy happening soon!   I'd love to see a vaccine approved for the kids below 16.  Maybe before school starts next year?  It would be fabulous to ditch the mask and work on labs in groups again.  At this point, I would just be over the moon to see all of my students in person again and give up on the Zoom synchronous sessions.

Sounds like a wonderful weekend and good news about vaccines, too. My something kids are eligible to be vaccinated now, too, and I'm so happy about that. Your Streak of Lightning top is almost there and looks wonderful!

Won't it be wonderful if school could return to normal again? I'm guessing some parents will appreciate teachers a bit more after so much Zoom school.

We had a beautiful weekend too, and played golf both days since we had no family around. Have to share our kids and grandkids with the "other" side of the family once in a while.

Loving your Streak of Lightning quilt. It's coming along beautifully. I think a family hike was the perfect way to have family time for Easter. Our weather was and still is beautiful here too. We had lamb chops and macaroni salad, so yummy! Here's to a good week!

Oh my gosh, yes! The Zoom synchronous sessions must go! Even with college students who are really responsible, it is really difficult. Love the red zigzags! Have a good week!

Glad you got a good hike in during the cooler weather. I fear this might be the last of it before the heat and humidity ramp up for the next 6-7 months. Your quilt is looking great.

I've always loved this setting for blocks, but have never tried it. Your quilt top is looking ravishing in red!! Here's hoping that you can eke out some more sewing time soon.

Love the red setting for your scrappy nine patches. I do so hope enough people get vaccinated that it becomes safe for all of us to be out and do what we need to do without worrying about the outliers who refuse to be vaccinated and continue to spread COVID and its evil variants. I just hope people don't give up on the recommended safety measures too soon.

Haha. You call 60 degrees a cold snap. Here in the Pacific NW, that would be a warm day now!

I heard this week that Pfizer has submitted an EUA for 12-15 year olds - hopefully we will know soon if that is approved - Covid has been running all over our middle school, so would be glad to have a vaccination option for my 8th grader!
