I'm Almost Sure it is Sunday

While on vacation, it gets hard to remember what day of the week it is.  Kurt has been going in to work sporadically, so the days really are blending all together.  I think it is Sunday though.  It feels like Sunday.  The week between Christmas and New Years is always a bit of a blur.
I'm almost done with the second postage stamp star quilt.  I'm pretty sure that red is the bottom row.  So almost done with that one.  I've already made up the binding, so that should go pretty quick
I finished hand quilting the month of May in Leap Year, the quilt block a day from 2016.  August is up next as those are both in the middle of the quilt.  After that, I'll be able to move out toward the edges which will make it much easier I think.  The quilt is 90 by 90, so it requires a bit of arranging to reach the middle for hand quilting.
I pieced lots of 2-inch squares yesterday for Squared Away.
I got the top border sewn on, but I need to do some serious ironing.  It was left on the floor and needed to be washed.  It is the second time I've had to wash a quilt prior to having it quilted.  It never ends well.  Hopefully, some quality iron time will get it all straightened out.
I'm linking up with both Kathy's Slow Stitching Sunday and Oh Scrap!

I wouldn't wash the flimsy before quilting. I know it's annoying to see it not clean but wait until after quilting. Life is so much easier washing after quilting than before. Trust me, I know!!!!! Have a great New Year's and lots of stitching in 2019.

:) I agree with Gretchen I wouldn't wash the top before quilting - I had a bad experience doing that - good luck with whatever you decide to do with it.

I agree with everyone else, to wait to wash until after it is quilted. Happy New Year!

You are moving along on your two WIPs. It's so nice to have the time to just be, but it does get hard to remember what day it is. Have a very Happy New Year!

I really like those squares for the border.

Those projects are coming along nicely. That Squared Away top would have to have been TOTALLY GROSS before I would wash it before it was a completed quilt!!! You will have your hands full with all that pressing. Of that, I am quite certain!

How funny-- I always lose track over break, too. The border for Squared Away looks awesome. Happy new year!

Wait until you're retired, then the days really get mixed up! Your postage stamp star quilt looks beautiful, and the two inch squares for the Squared Away border made me think "Wow!" Enjoy your Sunday!

When holidays all feel like Sunday, it's hard to keep the days straight. I love the colors in your squared away quilt. I hope you figured out a way to work on it without washing it. It never turned out well for me either.

Your projects are lovely and great ideas for using up 2.5" squares - of which I have a ton of! Thank you for sharing!

I agree with Diann. Wait until you retire. You will never remember what day it is. But it's a very nice problem to have. You are making great progress. I'm surprised at how much time you have off for the holidays.

I think I would wait for it to be quilted first before washing. I like the effect the washing has to a finished quilt.

I'm sorry you have to wash your quilt top. That can't be easy. You're braver than I am. I have quilted a dirty quilt top before and washed it once it was done. It's really no fun either way. Your scrap quilt is a delight to look at. I bet it's been fun to make. The hand quilting looks great - I love hand quilting.
