Spring Break Productivity

Yesterday I painted the stairs!  My back is angry about all the bending, but they look so fresh and clean.  I almost hate to put back the plants that usually live there.
Out bathroom glass finally got installed.  I'm just two days away from being able to shower in my own bathroom again.   The guys showed up the first time and turned right around and left after looking at the stairs.   They came back on Wednesday with two extra guys to help carry it up to the third story where the main bath is located.
A fresh lifeguard stand is a sure sign that summer is right around the corner.  The spring break crowds have been impressive.  They aren't up at sunrise though, so no photos of crowded beaches to share.

I have been savoring our daily  sunrise beach walk during the break.  I am going to miss that when school starts again on Monday.  Just nine more weeks though.  I think I will make it!

The Tiny Tuesday Sampler is on the frame.  I am doing a tiny wave in the background and then minimal quilting in the colored areas of the blocks to knock down the puffiness.  I think I'm about halfway done.   I used a pieced section in the center of the backing and that has just shown up.   I was just too tired yesterday to stand at the frame and settled for some hand quilting instead.   Just two more days of break though, I am determined to make the most of it.

Spring Break Update

It is Wednesday of our spring break week, meaning the fun is almost half over.  Here is Sydney at Lacrosse.  I'm sure she's in  there somewhere.
Here is Anna at Lacrosse.  Kurt had to take her while I was with Ryan at Mathcounts.
Here is Ryan at Mathcounts.  It was at the Disney Swan and Dolphin Resort this year.  Probably nicer than the Doubletree of last year.
Ryan had to miss the daytime performance of the school play, but we got back just in time for the evening show of Mulan Jr.  He had a super time and was all excited about going to Steak and Shake after.
Then bright and early the next day, I was up to take Anna to the Orlando Science Center.  I forgot to take any pictures during, but we had ice cream and bowling afterwards.  River wasn't in the competition, but he came to be supportive.
Then, finally, we were able to start the actual spring break activity --  camping!  Day one started with hiking.  Here we are on balanced rock, which isn't quite so balanced as it used to be.
Each day ended with 'smores of course.  So many 'smores!  Every meal was cooked over the fire.  We all smell like smoke now, but in a good way.
We took a break from the camping to take a boat out on the gulf, no fish were caught, but it was lots of fun.  And so now we are home again to rest up from our vacation.  While the laundry works its way through the cycle and the kids settle back into home again, I think I'll go remember how my sewing machine works.

Spring Break

Finally -- spring break has arrived! This weekend my mom was down from Georgia for a visit along with her husband Tom. It was a short visit, but we did a little shopping and saw a spring training game this afternoon before they headed out again. Our home team for spring training is the Washington Nationals, and they were playing the Braves. We left a little early because it looked like a storm front was moving in. I'm glad we did, because now we are under a tornado warning and are all sitting watching the news.
I haven't had any quality time with my sewing machine yet. The guest bedroom was prepped for company and everything got put away. I'm planning on doing some serious sewing this week though, starting with the March and April BOMs from Amy. After that I'm not sure yet, but I'd like to accomplish something substantial with all my "free" time.
