Boxed In

If I do three blocks each month that are 12.5 inches, then I will have enough at the end of the year for a queen sized quilt.  I'm not sure that I need a queen sized rainbow colored quilt, but I'm working on three a month nonetheless.  This one is called Boxed In.  It was designed by Julie Herman at jaybirdquilts, and is block number 171 from the Quiltmaker 100 blocks issue for this year.  I bought the first issue last year and never made a single block from it.  So I'm already ahead of the game by getting this one done.  It was super simple to make and just used 2.5 inch squares and 1.5 inch strips.  I won't give you all the measurements, since it was a published pattern and all.  Isn't it cute?  I could see a whole quilt made up of just this block in all different colors.

Oh No! I love this :) I really don't need another block I HAVE to make, lol. Hmm, ok, will save this idea for one of the later months this year. Actually, this would make a totally fabulous red and white quilt...

Hmm, another thought - if I used black for the white strips, this would be a great way to use up batik scraps...

That was one of my favorite blocks from the issue, too. Yours looks great!
