I know that a lot of you are hesitant to include browns and blacks in your rainbow scrap projects. Some people are using black backgrounds, which is why I grouped brown and black together. But for everyone else, I urge you to give your darker scraps a try. Often they fit in better than you might think and add a bit of solidity to your project. Even if you end up not wanting to include your blocks in the final project, at least your scraps will be blocks that can be turned into something useful. So I urge you to give it a try!
First though, it is the start of the new month, so I have drawn a random number from last week's comments. The lucky winner of beautiful hand dyed fabric from Vicki Welsh, is...... Kate who blog at Life in Pieces. She has a Dresden Plates Quilt on her someday list. They would look beautiful in hand dyed fabrics, wouldn't they? Vicki has some beautiful new shades packs for sale, that have been tempting me. I feel pretty good about adding new fabric after using up so many scraps lately.

So happy to be participating!!!
I am glad to be using my brown and black scraps. I wouldn't want to make an entire quilt out of them, but if I don't use them, how will they not multiply?
How fun! What a nice surprise for a Saturday morning. I really enjoy the Rainbow Scrap Challenge, it makes it easy to go dig through those scraps and actually make something with them. Thank you for hosting and for all the inspiration.
thanks for the hosting- this is my first year doing RSC, and I'm loving it! I have a lot of scraps to work through!!!
So glad you grouped brown and black together. Having a bit of hard time seeing how browns will work, but I am willing. Can't wait to get back next week and give the browns a chance. All of this thought has made me wonder what will November and December bring?
I'm glad to be using up these darker scraps. I tend to forget about these colors sometimes and it's good for me to may an actual effort to use them.
The scraps are sorted and ready and the plan is in place . . . will have progress to share next Saturday. I admit, brown wasn't my first choice for this month, but I can see that it IS going to work!
I was amazed to see how many brown bits I actually had. Looking forward to playing with some chocolate delights this month.
So pleased you asked for darker, murkier colours this month Angela I feel they'll look good mixed in with our brighter fabrics. The thumbnails here look inviting so I can spend a little downtime visiting!
So much fun to play on the "dark" side!
I'm looking forward to playing with the darker scraps!
I'm looking forward to using some browns and blacks this month. It turned out that there are many more in by stash than I remembered!
Sorry it's been so long since an update from me, but, I have been plugging along with everyone! Can't wait to add brown into the mix! Thanks for hosting this fun challenge!
