A Thought on Brown and Black

I wanted to take a minute to share my favorite two quilts from last year.  Notice the gravitas that the black and brown add to the quilt.
Without something darker for grounding it would be easy for the rainbow colors to float away.

Sensational! Yes I agree, the brown and black definitely add to these quilts.

I'm glad you showed these quilts, a valuable lesson learned for this quilting novice.

I agree! I was thinking of not doing the brown/black a few months ago and went looking at your finished quilts from last year and changed my mind. They are going in my quilts this year too!

I HAVE to remember that sashing for my quilt this year. It's an amazing "tie together".

Thank you for the color lesson. I wasn't sure about using brown in the coffee cup quilt. I've made one cup with a brown background, but has a colorful print. It is by far the darkest block, but I'll leave it in until I get all the blocks done, then I can check the color/darkness balance.

I love what brown & black add to your quilts! I won't be able to use them in my Mini Pineapples though because I am using black as my background. However, not a problem because I've decided to make some completely different blocks for a nice change-up and use up those brown & black scraps anyway:*)
